Happy Hour

TITLE: HAPPY HOUR - FOX FALL 2006

Info:

Premiere Date: Thursday, September 7, 2006 (Warner Bros. Television)
Network: FOX
Time: Thursdays at 8:30 p.m.
Cast: Starring John Sloan, Lex Medlin, Beth Lacke, Nat Faxon, Jamie Denbo, Brooke D'Orsay

Introduction:

So life is all settled for you, but your girlfriend has convinced you to give it all up and move to Chicago with her. Except when you get there, she doesn't want you. So how do you rebuild your life in a new city? With the help of new friends and a bar.

Cast Details:

The series is about Harvey Beckman (John Sloan), who moves to Chicago to be with his girlfriend, Heather (Brooke D'Orsay). Except she doesn't want him anymore, so he has to build his life all over again in the new city, and does this by moving in with Larry (Lex Medlin). Larry is able to accommodate Harvey, because his old roommate, Brad (Nat Faxon), has gotten engaged to Tina (Jamie Denbo).

Pilot Plot:

In the pilot (here we go again with repeating details, this is what happens when a show has a bad premise), John gives up everything that he has to go to Chicago to be with Heather. And once he gets there, Heather dumps him, so he has nowhere to live or work. So he moves in with Larry, who has just lost his own roommate. Larry helps John find a job. And at the end of the day, everybody drinks, in other words happy hour.

Analysis:

Let's see... I've reviewed two FOX sitcom pilots for the fall season. The other one was a better show. And I thought that show was painful.

I'm not getting this show at all. Basically the guy moves to Chicago and is trying to live there and goes to a bar and drinks because his girlfriend doesn't want him now. There isn't much to analyze there, it is just boring. It is a traditional style sitcom without any cutaways or anything (which is not common for Fox)... but unfortunately it lacks any comedic value.

Conclusion:

This show is just bad and I don't know what they could do to make it better except for to cancel it quickly. You are probably wondering why there are so few details in this review. I would have included them if there were any. The bottom line is that the show is just really boring and poorly developed. You'd have to be drunk to watch this... I don't even think I need to say any more.

Final Numbers (out of 5 stars):

Watchability: 1/5
Funniness: 1.5/5
Overall: 1/5
