The sitcom stars Tracee Ellis Ross as Joan Clayton, Golden Brooks as Maya, Jill Marie Jones as Toni, Persia White as Lynn and Reggie Hayes as William. It's a season of getting naked, getting married and office romances! So dive right on in for Girlfriends, The Second Season!

"Joan's Birthday Suit" is the one in which Joan has a meltdown on her 30th birthday. "Mom's The Word" in which Joan's excitement over dating a celebrity leads him to believe she is stalking him. "Sister Sistah" in which Joan finds Lynn's white "sistah" offensive. "X Does Not Mark the Spot" in which Joan accidentally takes Ecstacy. The main box is once again a snap case and features a picture of the four ladies on the cover with a nice purple color scheme. The back of the box features a shot of the each of the girls as well as a description of the series. Inside the box are episode titles, airdates and a brief episode description. The discs themselves are silver in color and feature the show logo. Disc 1 contains Episodes 1-7. Disc 2 contains Episodes 8-15. Disc 3 contains Episodes 16-22.
Menu Design and Navigation:
The menu is very nice. The main menu pops up immediately with a shot of all four leading ladies and it is similar (nearly identical) to the cover art. On the right hand side there is a scrolling set of video clips in black and white and a purple/red hue. There is a "Play All" option, which plays all of the episodes and there is an "Episodes" section. The "Episodes" selection takes you to a sub-menu where you see a list of the episodes to choose from. The theme song loops in the background.
Video and Audio Quality:
The audio is great and the video is great, which is no surprise considering the series is just about seven years old. There are chapter skips and the episodes are most likely uncut, as 21 minutes is the normal for sitcoms these days. As with the case with the first season, there is a disclaimer on the back of the box saying “Some episodes may be edited from original broadcast. Some music has been changed for this home entertainment version.”

* We All Fall Down: A Closer Look At "Trick or Truth?" (15:29)
Located on Disc 1, creator Mara Brock Akil (who says this episode remains her favorite) discusses the episode and how it dealt with the Toni/Joan relationship.
* Creating the Show (17:47)
Located on Disc 3, it's the usual "creating the show" special, but it's great to have, and in my opinion should of been on the FIRST season release. It includes interviews with creator Mara Brok Akil as well as producers Dee LaDuke and Mark Alton Brown.
* Getting the Girls Together (19:24)
Located on Disc 3, producers Dee LaDuke and Mark Alton Brown discuss the casting of each women and why they were chosen and how difficult it was. Also interviewed is Mara Brock Akil as well as cast members Jill Marie Jones (Toni), Reggie Hayes (William) and Tracee Ellis Ross (Joan).
* Episode Guide
Located on Disc 3, it's just what it says, an episode guide. You can click on each episode title and read a brief recap.
Well, wow! I was definitely impressed to see that they added bonus features! That was such a pleasant surprise. This show definitely hit its stride in Season 2 and it is no wonder this fan favorite is still on the air. It's a very funny, well written and produced show. Definitely one of UPN's best in the years it was on the air, and I'm sure its fans are very happy to have seen it continue on The CW. Overall, a very solid release by Paramount and I'm so happy to see bonus features included. I do have to say though, that the price is very steep, and not necessary, although you can almost always find it much cheaper!
