Introduction:
Your favorite FRIENDS are back for another go around
on DVD! This time it's "best of" sets. Join all your
favorites, Monica, Rachel, Ross, Chandler, Joey and
Phoebe and relive those crazy fun episodes you loved.
Episodes Included / Notable Guest Stars:
The episodes included on this disc are: "The One with
the Birth" (O/A/D: 5/11/95) in which Ross' son Ben is
born. "The One with the Baby on the Bus" (Airdate:
11/2/95) in which Joey and Chandler baby-sit Ben and
lose him on a bus. "The One Hundreth" (10/8/98) in
which Phoebe gives birth to triplets, "The One Where
Rachel Has the Baby" (Airdate: 5/16/02), the hour-long
season 8 finale in which Rachel gives birth to Emma
and "The One With The Male Nanny" (Airdate: 11/7/02)
in which Freddie Prinze Jr. guest stars as Emma's male
nanny, which irks Ross.
Some notable guests this season include: Leah Remini
("The King of Queens"), Catherine Bell ("JAG"), Lea
Thompson ("Caroline in the City"), Giovanni Ribisi
(various movies) as Phoebe's half brother, Debra Jo
Rupp ("That '70s Show") as Phoebe's sister-in-law,
Patrick Fabian, Heidi Beck, Christina Pickles, Debi
Mazar, Maggie Wheeler, Eddie McClintock ("Crumbs"),
Paul Rudd, Hank Azaria and Freddie Prinze Jr.
("Freddie") as Emma's male nanny.
Packaging:
The cover art features a picture from one of the
episodes on the disc. For this cover we have a picture
of Rachel and Ross together before Rachel gave birth
to Emma. It's a simple cover design for a single disc
release. The back of the box lists the episodes
available.
Menu Design and Navigation:
The menu starts off with a shot of the six friends
together (it's a bigger version of what's on the top
of the disc case). It then goes to the main menu
screen which is identical to the cover art. The
FRIENDS theme song loops (no lyrics). Selections are:
Play (All), Episodes, Special Features and Languages.
Video and Audio Quality:
As expected, the video is very good, considering the
show is only about 12 or so years old. Audio is fine
as well and there are no problems to worry about. The
episodes are unedited and have chapter stops.
Special Features:
Not a whole lot is offered. Basic commentary by
Executive Producers Kevin S. Bright, Marta Kauffman
and David Crane on the episodes "The One-Hundredth,"
"The One Where Rachel Has a Baby," and "The One with
the Male Nanny" are offered.
Final Comments:
Overall, this is not a bad release. It's a good idea
for FRIENDS fans who might not be able to afford a
regular season set release and want to relive some of
their favorite episodes. A good job by Warner Brothers
and I applaud them for putting commentary onto the
episodes. It was definitely nice to have that.
