Introduction:
Well, FRIENDS fans, this is the set for you! The
complete series all in one nice box set--this set
features 40 DVDs, all 236 episodes, and every bonus
feature that was included on the regular season sets.
FRIENDS debuted on NBC in 1994 and became a smash
ratings hit, propelling all of its cast to various
degrees of stardom. Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey,
Chandler and Ross were always there for each other.
Now they're here for you in the complete 10-season set
of FRIENDS. You can relieve each baby, wedding, and
zany adventure all over again!
Memorable Episodes / Notable Guest Stars:
Over the span of 236 episodes ... there are just far
too many to list! From the first episode to the last,
all episodes are memorable. If you buy this set, you
must be a die hard and you will think all are
memorable anyway...right? And see how Rachel’s hair
changed over the decade. From her 1994 “Rachel” look
to the current 2004 look…it is still the “Rachel,” the
best looking hair since Farrah! Guest stars over the
years include Christina Applegate, Bruce Willis, Tom
Selleck, Brad Pitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Aisha Tyler,
Hank Azaria, Paul Rudd and so many others!
Packaging:
All 236 episodes are contained in a huge box. The box
itself is maroon in color and features nice shots of
the FRIENDS. Opening the top of the box reveals the
six "booklets" that hold the discs along with the
fantastic 60 page booklet filled with colored photos
of the series and episode recaps separated in the
books by disc.
The six "booklets" that contain the episodes are in a
different color and feature a front and back picture
of each FRIEND (one friend for each set). What's also
cool is that each disc in that set features shots of
the cast through the years. You'd have to see it to
really grasp what it looks like. Set 1 features Monica
(Courteney Cox Arquette) and contains episodes 1-43 on
seven discs. Episodes 44 through 79 are in set two
that features Chandler (Matthew Perry) and they are
spread over six discs. Episodes 80 through 121 are
located on set 3 and feature Rachel (Jennifer Aniston)
on the cover and they are spread over seven discs.
Episodes 122 through 164 are on set four and feature
Ross (David Schwimmer) on the cover and they are
spread over seven discs. Episodes 165 through 206 are
located in set 5 and feature Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) on
the cover and they are spread over seven discs.
Episodes 207 through 236 are located in set 6 and
feature Joey (Matt LeBlanc) on the cover and they are
spread over six discs.
Menu Design and Navigation:
The menus are the same as were on the individual
regular seasons. The menu pops up with the FRIENDS
theme looping in the background (without lyrics). It
features "Play" (to play all episodes), Episodes,
which takes you to a sub-menu where you can
immediately scroll down the episodes and click on the
coffee cup to view a preview or you can select the
episode title. If there are bonus features on that
disc, you can select the special features selection,
which takes you to a sub menu.
Video and Audio Quality:
Video is great as is the audio--nothing to be
concerned about there. If you have each season set
already, you know how it is. Closed captioning is
available and each episode is uncut, running various
lengths through each season. Chapter stops are
located on each episode.
Special Features:
All of the special features that were included on the
regular season sets are located here as well. Included
in this set is a collector's booklet featuring great
photos and episode recaps. The booklet goes through
each disc, showing which episode is where and what
special features are on that disc, so check it out.
Final Comments:
Overall, I'm actually quite thrilled to have this set.
It's styled well and somewhat compact. It's well worth
the money and if you are a FRIENDS fan, I actually
recommend getting the set, even if you have the other
season sets. If you are a die-hard fan, I know you
will buy it…and you should. There's various ways to
get the sets off your hands. It's a bit pricey but
that's to be expected. So, start singing “I’ll Be
There for You” and run and buy this set…even if you
have all the seasons already! The 60-page booklet and
packaging are high class.
