  • 03/11/04: Brandon Cruz is scheduled to appear on the TV Land Awards airing on March 17th

Here's an update Brandon recently posted on 02/06/04 on the message board:

It has been a busy time for me since I last posted. I dislocated my shoulder in England while performing with Dead Kennedys. I finished the tour 5 days later, came home, promptly quit the band and went to work on the Roseanne show. The show was cancelled after 4 months so I went to work at MTV on Viva La Bam, and now I am at the Discovery Channel and editing American Chopper. My wife is as beautiful as ever and my children are getting bigger and smarter every day. I have a few projects in the works, two of which are Eddie's Father projects. I will let you all know as soon as I hear more. It's a weird business, and it takes a long time to get anything done. I wish you all health and happiness. Thanks for visiting this site and for remembering the show. It means a lot to those of us who made it.
    Take Care,
    Brandon Cruz

  • An update on Miyoshi Umeki: she is alive and well and living in Sherman Oaks, California.

RCA Victor Japan has recently released a CD of her early recordings in Japan (most if which are sung in English) called "The Early Days Of Nancy Umeki". It can be ordered as an import.

  • 01/24/04: My Favorite Martian - Season 1 is coming to DVD in May!

    From TVShowsOnDVD.com

After releasing 3 single-disc DVDs back in 2000-2001, Rhino informs us that they are now returning to the world of My Favorite Martian and exploring it more thoroughly. As in season-set thoroughly!

Look for "My Favorite Martian - Season 1," which consists of 37 episodes starring Ray Walston and Bill Bixby, on DVD in May. We don't know yet if these will be delivered in the original black-and-white, but based on Rhino's previous releases we aren't worried about this. I'm confident we'll see the first two seasons in black-and-white, and the third season in color, just as they should be. Stay tuned, though, and we'll have complete details for you just as soon as they are available.

  • Unfortunately, the new "Eddie's Father" series was not picked up The WB when they announced their fall schedule lineup.

  • A pilot for a new WB series is in development and will be shot in April. Ken Marino will play the Tom Corbett character. Marino ("Joe Somebody") clinched the lead role in the WB's revival of "The Courtship of Eddie's Father," now being called simply "Eddie's Father." Marino's character is a San Francisco widower with a 9-year-old son. Credits for the thesp, repped by Schachter Entertainment and Ilene Feldman Agency, include "Wet Hot American Summer" and NBC's "Leap of Faith." Warner Bros. TV and Pariah TV are producing. Scribe Jay Kogen and Gavin Polone are the exec producers.

Zak Orth has joined the WB Network's "Eddie's Father," which has cast 10-year-old Josh Hutcherson as Eddie.

Nicole Bilderback has reportedly been cast as Jenna Livingston "Livingston," nanny to Eddie. She is young, hip and her relationship with Tom (Ken's character) is more of a best friends/brother-sister type rather than an employer/employee type.

It has not been placed on the WB fall schedule, so perhaps it could be a mid-season replacement sometime in 2003-2004.

  • The Courtship of Eddie's Father theme song ("Best Friend" by Harry Nilsson) can be heard in the Lycos commercials with Mark McGwire and John Elway.

    Brandon Cruz

An update has been posted by Brandon Cruz on the message board.

  • Brandon Cruz has been touring and singing for the legendary seminal punk band the Dead Kennedys. He continues his job as frontman for Dr. Know

    Turner South

  • The Courtship of Eddie's Father was on Turner South (available in parts of the southeast US) a year or two ago, but they no longer have it on their schedule. Visit the Turner South website for their schedule of programs.

The movie starred Glenn Ford, Shirley Jones, Stella Stevens, Dina Merrill, Roberta Sherwood, Ron Howard, and Jerry Van Dyke.

From film guru Leonard Maltin: Cute family comedy with Howard trying to find wife for widower father Ford. Look sharp for Lee Meriwether as Glenn's assistant. Later a TV series. Panavision.
