Default David had different name

I noticed that on the first ep that David was on they said he was Kevin ( I think that was the name) I do remember it wasn't David. I wonder why they changed it?

It was a joke. Darlene made up the name Kevin.

Thanks for the answer. That makes more sense than changing a name for no reason.

wait, didnt darlene change his name to david? cause there was an ep. in like season 7, i think. where roseanne and dan are having an aguement about david (when dan finds out about the david living w/ darlene in collage thing). dan says something and roseanne says "well, david isnt even his real name, darlene just made that up", or something. and in the coda of "the bowling show", darlene meets david (kevin) for the first time, and they complement each other on their "out of control" hair.

I think that his name was kevin but people called him David because if Darlene made it up why would his mother call him David? Also, when Roseanne says Darlene changed his name it is supposed to be a joke.

Well IMDB names him
Kevin David Healy that would explain why he was called Kevin
-BUT-
In the episode where Darlene and David are filling out college aps in the tag David tells Darlene that his middle name is Maurice so if she didnt know his middle name then she wouldnt know to call him David
-BUT-
If Darlen made up the name David then why would his own mother who was not fond of the Conners call her son by a name that his g/f made up?

The only logical reason I can figure is that Johnny Galekie (?) was on another show at the time he guest starred as Kevin and his name on that show was David so they changed it for one episode maybe for contract reasons, or confusion reasons and when the other show ended and he became a regular they used the name David that probably Roseanne wanted to use...

-OR-
maybe his name was not Kevin or David and that was something that Roseanne made up in her fantasy and neglected to tell us the truth when she ended the show and told us what really happened in her life (Final Episode)

WHO KNOWS?

Good points, esp. the final episode one.
I was thinking maybe it was just an oversight by the writers. That is why Roseanne makes a joke of Darlene changing his name.
