Default DVD now!

I don't know what the heck is preventing them from releasing this show on DVD, but it is ridiculous! Having it on WPIX is great, but a dvd could be so much better with special features, interviews, etc. The cast isn't getting any younger and I feel they should do it while everyone's alive and kicking. That's just my opinion and I'm sticking to it!

Thumbs up

100% TRUE! The show is a classic and deserves the Season Set treatement with uncut episodes and bonus material.

Although I'm not a big fan of the first season, I'd still buy it. I love seasons 2-5. But I agree that it needs to be on DVD and soon.

The videos are numbered but the early ones aren't as good. #3 is where I really get going.

IF ODD COUPLE CAME TO DVD

What a joyous occasion!!!!! We could have a special celebration for the board!!! Could you imagine? We could have an ODD COUPLE COMES TO DVD PARTY!!! (With the following for our wonderful, wonderful board!)

1.) Free hambergers for a month
2) No rent increase
3.) Sherman the Clown for entertainment

I would be even more excited than the time I went to the Opera and sang along!!!

Seriously, what I was wondering is, if you were in charge of putting the Odd Couple on DVD, what features would you want to be included and if a box set were to come out with all seasons, how much do you think it would cost to buy the whole set?

Do you think that it would come out season by season, or Paramount would do a box set immediately? I think that if the show came to DVD, it should obviously have:

1.) All episodes fully uncut and restored from the master tapes.

2.) An episode guide for each disk with the option to select any number of episodes on the disk for sequential play. (a lot of disks don't do this!) They either have a "play each episode" or "Play all feature" but nothing in the middle, which can be a problem.

For example, if you want to watch SELECTED Season 1 episodes one after the other, you should be able to program the disk to say, "OK, I want to watch "It's All Over Now Baby Bird" and then "The Blackout", but don't want to see "The Big Brothers." With many disks, you have to either select "Play all", or go back to the menu after the episode ends to select another episode.

3.) Interviews with the cast and crew: This is a natural. It would be fasinating to hear their insite as to the creation and production of the show.

4.) Deleted Scenes: No, I don't mean the stuff cut out from TV Land or syndicate, I'm talking about scenes that were filmed in preparation for the final show but were never used! Jack Klugman said that they would shoot several diffferent tag sequences and have the audience pick the BEST one of what was filmed! So, you could have had several EPISODES, that had different tag endings!

Excellent suggestions Jack.

Of all the TV shows that are now on DVD, it is a crime that "Odd Couple" hasn't made the cut.

For crying out loud Season 1 of "What's Happening" was just released on DVD!
Gimme a break!

As we speak I'm sure "Gimme A Break" is being prepped for DVD.

You have some great suggestions Jack. To be honest, I wouldn't be too picky about what should be on the DVD as long as it was remastered and uncut.

No need to knock one show just because another isn't available yet. "What's Happening" has its fans too.

I knew you were just being tongue and cheek about What's Happening too TJL. I see your point though, What's Happening was only on 3 seasons, yet the Odd Couple was on for like 5. Yet, What's Happening gets the DVD treatment first.

I also don't like that current shows (Friends, Sex And The City, etc.) are getting released on DVD when you can watch them ad nauseum in reruns.

Default Odd Couple DVD

Apparently, someone on Ebay is selling the complete 5 season series on DVD. It looks authentic, but I'm wondering why wasn't the rest of the world notified that such a thing existed? And why isn't it in mass production?

Check it out.

I checked it out and whoever made up the DVD's looks like he did a professional job. However, the DVD's are not "officially" out yet and I would be very leery of buying anything but the real McCoy.
