Thumbs up What happened to the Big Happy Family?

Have any of you noticed the difference compared to the way Family Matters started, to the way it ended? Originally it had Carl, Harriette, Mother Winslow, Rachel, Richie, Eddie, Laura, and Judy. About halfway into the first season, Urkel joined the cast and became a regular, then Waldo shows up about a year later and quickly becomes a regular at the premire of season 3 and everyone is happy. Okay, a few years later, next thing you know is Judy dissapears with no explination, Rachel dissapears with no explination, Grandma Winslow gets married and moves in with Fletcher, and Richie seems to only be there every now and then. We get the addition of Myra, Stephan, and 3J. Yet 3J, although he is supposed to be a regular, is Seldom seen during the last season, and Richie is seen even less. Mother Winslow appears for one episode in the last season, and it's the Christmas episode. Right after Christmas Harriete is gone for a few episodes, but comes back with another actress playing her. So Basically Family Matters starts out as one big Happy Family, then slowly, members of the family are either written out, or are seldom seen, and we are left with Carl, Laura, Eddie, and Steve.

They had enough characters for an hour variety show!

Yeah, I know what you mean... It was sad to watch everybody go.
That's why I like the early episodes best.
