That George taught himself how to dance from Watching American Banstand with Dick Clark? He taught his self how to do all the things his Character George Jefferson was doing in certain episodes. This Info was found in 1975 TV Guide Article.

That George is quite a character! I wished Mike Evans would have stayed on the show those two guys could have made quite a comedy team! Mike Evans' Lionel was a real smart ass played to perfection!!!!
