Default I can't remember!

Was Father Mulcahy partially deaf on AfterMash like he was in Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen?
And if not, did they ever explain why he wasn't?

Hmmm.

I really don't remember much from that series, but I do recall a few scenes in which the good Father was wearing a hearing aid.
I don't think he recovered all of his hearing.

Potter performed an operation in the last half of the hour-long premiere episode in which his hearing is restored. A clip of the end of this episode -- in which Potter is removing the packing from Mulcahy's ears -- is included near the end of the A&E channel's "Biography"/"TV-ography" look at "M*A*S*H."

Outside of the first episode, Mulcahy only wore a hearing aid in scenes that were specifically shot to promote "AfterMASH" prior to the show's premiere. (Don't recall the full details, but there was a medium shot of Mulcahy addressing the audience, with a long stringy hearing aid attached to one ear -- since the show's creators didn't want to reveal that Mulcahy's condition from the finale of "M*A*S*H" would be resolved in the first episode of the new series. The same promos included similar shots of the 3 main characters that were shot specifically for the commercials and were not included in the episodes. One showed Potter returning home as Mildred's back was to the camera and saying something like "Mildred, I have come home" -- a scene much different from what was seen in the premiere episode.)
