I'm putting this at each board I moderate. This isn't my rule, it's TJ's rule. He mainly talks about sig pics and the limit on sig pics in the Chit Chat forum. Some of you might not visit the CC forum, so I thought I'd post it here, on the Batman board and on the Beaver board.
Okay, about a week or so ago, TJ took out sig pics. But he said we could still have text in our sigs. A few people started putting text pictures in their sigs, so TJ took out text for awhile and sigs were just empty. TJ posted yesterday that he was turning sigs back on, but we do have a limit on what we can put in our sigs. Of course, you can still choose whether or not you want 1 pic or 2 pics in your sig, but the combined total of both pics has to be 50K or under. I'm sure nobody will put you on the spot if you go a bit over, say 51 or 52K. But if it's 60K or 70K, you'd better shrink it up just a tad bit. Some of you might be wondering what the hell a K is. And how can I tell if I've went over limit. Now I'm not gonna fork out all this jazz about a K=KB and all that stuff. Someone explained it like this on Chit Chat and I think this is possibly the best explanation. I would like everybody to look at my sig pic, so I can use it as an example. Please point your mouse cursors to my sig pic, and I want you to get right in the center of the pic and I want you to right click on the pic. If you did this right, a menu will pop up. Look through the menu options and go to 'Properties'. Look at the size of my pic. My pic is 38279 bytes. Okay, you divide the size into a 1,000. You'll see it comes up 38, so my pic is 38K. I'm under the limit and I'm safe. Please everybody don't just assume you can get away with having a big pic in your sig that is way over 50K. On Chit Chat, it does look like TJ will be cracking down on offenders. If I remember correctly, he will warn you once. If he has to warn you twice about your sig pic, I think he takes away your sig. Not sure if he'll take it away forever more or just for a week or so. I will post the links to CC where TJ talks about the sig pics. I would recommend everybody reading that. I explained it the best way I could, but if you want it in better details, I would suggest you reading TJ's threads. If you still have a question, you can ask me and I'll try and answer it the best way possible. I'm making this thread a sticky for the time being, btw. Sig pics are gone, but you can still have quotes in your sig. Unsticking thread.
