Transferring Files??

Does anyone know how to make a server and transfer files from my computer to someone else's besides WinMx and Kazaa. Lets say a video file. I'm trying to transfer a file to a friends computer but we keep having trouble since she can't find me on Kazaa and I can't find her and WinMx just keeps timing out on the transfer. So how would I go about making a server so she could connect to my server through SmartFTP?

I tried that the file is too big.

Yeah, like I said it's a TV Show. So therefore, it's gonna be a big file. Oh well, I guess I could always burn it to cd and send it to her.
