Post June Carter Cash in 'The Collection'

The 1976 episode featured her and her husband Johnny Cash as a pair of married swindlers who start out very unsympathetic by kidnapping Reverand Alden and intending to dupe the good folks of Walnut Grove with Johnny pretending to be a fake clergyman but over the course of the episode, they redeem themselves and show a truly moving spiritual catharsis.
I know Mrs. Cash was primarily a singer who was famous as an onstage comedienne but she truly did an outstanding job doing a dramatic role here and I hope everyone thinks of the dynamic team she and her husband made when reflecting upon her life!

they didn't kidnap Rev. Alden, Rev. Alden was hurt in an accident and they took him in. Johnny's character promised Rev. Alden he would get the collection money back to Walnut Grove but instead he was planning on going and swidleing the good people of Walnut Grove. Of course he didn't and ended up a redeemed man.

the money wasn't for Walnut Grove, it was for the poor famillies of a nearby town that had suffered from a prairie fire.

Thank you, I ment donations from Walnut Grove, not to Walnut Grove.

Reverend Alden gets sick while collecting donations. Caleb Hodgekiss, an ex-convict, helps the Reverend by giving him a place to stay and volunteering to get the donations from Walnut Grove. Caleb poses as a friend of the Reverend so that he might get donations which he initially planned to keep for himself
