Cool vcr / remote question

Ok, time shifting brainiacs and all curious bystanders - i need help (more than usual).
Over a week ago i lost the remote control for my vcr and have been unable to timer program anything. Is there - anywhere in the universe - a universal remote that can handle timer recording functions. Ive never owned one, and i cant tell from the packages at the store. Surely, technology has finally advanced to the point where this is a possibility?

I humbley await your guidance and stuff. (AND DONT TELL ME TO GET A NEW VCR, this is a 6 head toshiba and it rules)

find the remote.

Just kidding!
Actually, that's something I would be interested in finding out, as well. I have lost my VCR remote a number of times and missed recording shows. You're not alone!

Make sure you look inside couches and underneath piles of papers...that's where I usually find mine. Those darn things...they just...sprout legs and walk off...

You wont know if it will work for sure, unless you go to like best buy,but nowadays vcrs arent hooked up at the stores anymore.

Well I hope you find your remote but do you want to hear my stupid remote problem?

I have 3 DIFFERENT VCR's in my living room but I have 1 remote to one of them that works ALL THREE VCR's. So when I hit "Play" all 3 will play, or pause, or rewind, etc. It's insane and it drives me nuts. I have to put video boxes or something in front of the VCR's that I'm not trying to control in order to keep that from happening!

How it all came down to this, only the Devil knows. Retail Rodeo is at the corner on my left. The motel is down the road to my right. I close my eyes and try to peer into the future. On my left, I saw days upon days of lipstick and ticking clocks, dirty looks and quiet whisperings. And burning secrets that just won't ever die away. And on my right, what could I picture? The blue sky, the desert earth, stretching out into the eerie infinity. A beautiful never-ending nothing.

Yeah, i remember those days. Heh. Well, I decided to take 2 prozacs tonight then go look for it, but the place is a disaster - brother moved out and left stuff everywhere. im going to have to do some serious cleaning to find whatever nook that thing fell into. I hope and pray my adorable baby go deck can be repaired this summer - now that was a vcr, man! OH BABY. <G> Heh heh heh.

Ha Jamie.

I have 4 vcr's in my living room, and 2 are the same,so obviuosly the one remote works the 2 same ones,I do the box thing also

Nothing worse then editing commercials on one set,and doing tapes for someone on the other, then you hit pause for your commercial and pause right in the middle of someones tape,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,there goes 15 minutes cause you have to rewind to the begiining of the last show

Cool

have any of you tried one of those newer go decks that has the auto commercial edit? i dont edit commercials since i deal with vcds now, but i am really curious to know if its as easy as they claim. just put your tape in and let it do all the editing automatically - that would be something.

God, that would be.

As much as editing as I do to my tapes, that would be a dream come true.
