Default New TZ article- It's gone

UPN: Jake Yes, Zone No

UPN has ordered the SF series Jake 2.0 from executive producer Silvio Horta for the fall, but has canceled The Twilight Zone after only one season, Variety reported. David Greenwalt (Angel, Miracles) will serve as show runner of the one-hour drama Jake 2.0, the trade paper reported.

Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo are also executive producers on the series, which comes from Viacom and Roundtable Entertainment, the trade paper reported.

Jake 2.0 centers on a National Security Agency agent who's implanted with computer chips.

It's infuriating. All of these TV and movie producers think that if they have a gimmick, like a remake of a show with a cult following, they're guaranteed success. But then they do a very mediocre job of implementing the series, or the movie, and exercise no quality control at all. And now, instead of fixing the show by hiring good writers and managers, they conclude that the public isn't interested and cancel it. In the right hands, a new "Twilight Zone" series could have run for 20 years.

Yep, you nailed it right on the head. Granted, they did try their best to get the original TZ fans to watch it. I'll give credit when it's due and I'll admit they did do a good job on the 'It's a Good Life' sequel. Then again, I don't think it would've been as good if they hadn't brought back Bill and Cloris. They get one point for credit.

The List

Got a tv guide and it lists all shows not returning. I'll type each list out.

As the season concluded, the following shows were not renewed:

ABC: Miracles and Vertias: The Quest

CBS: The Agency, Becker and My Big Fat Greek Life (Becker could return at mid-season.)

NBC: A.U.S.A., Kingpin, Just Shoot Me, Mister Sterling, and Watching Ellie

FOX: Fastlane and John Doe

UPN: Platinum and The Twilight Zone

WB: Black Sash

They're Not Coming Back (another chart)
The Agency
Fastlane
Just Shoot Me
My Big Fat Greek Life
Sabrina, the Teenage Witch
The Twilight Zone
Watching Ellie
