Foxy 'Idol' Caldwell Finds New Fox Home

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - "American Idol" blonde belter Kimberly Caldwell is making a move within the Fox family. The photogenic singer from Katy, Texas by-way-of Branson, Missouri will join Fox Sports Net as an entertainment correspondent on the extreme sports show "54321."

Caldwell was dismissed from "American Idol" on April 16, the sixth contestant to go. Her audition performance of "Superstitious" was one of the advertising centerpieces for the popular talent show's second season, but she had to fight to make it to the finals, finishing third in her semifinal group before receiving judge Randy Jackson's wild card berth.

Through her finals run, Caldwell was frequently praised for her stage presence, though the always-snarky Simon Cowell periodically declared she'd be better suited to working at Six Flags or a similar theme park.

The producers at "54321" disagree and they'll use Caldwell as a reporter at premieres, concerts and other red carpet entertainment events.

"Without a doubt, Kimberly exudes star power," says the show's executive producer John Johnston. "She captures the energy, spirit and confidence that is part of the extreme sports genre. Her expertise in the music scene also provides a great deal of credibility to the entertainment pieces that are featured on '54321.'"

Caldwell will make her debut this week at the premiere of "X-Men 2: X-Men United" at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. She'll also pop up at events including the "Eco-Challenge Playboy Extreme Team" premiere and the Deep Down concert at the Whiskey in Hollywood.

"I couldn't be more excited to be a part of '54321,'" said Caldwell. "To go from singing in front of millions of people, to interviewing movie stars on the red carpet, is a dream come true. I am thankful for this great opportunity and hope to have an instant impact on the show."
