Question Ruined Careers

I'm referring to any famous person who had a fall from grace and was publicly disgraced.

'Jimmy The Greek' -- Oddsmaker and CBS Sport's Commentator who lost in job for stating during an interview that "black athletes were bred to be superior to whites".

Pete Rose for betting.

Milli Vanilli for lip-synching.

O. J. Simpson doesn't get many offers these days.

Gary Hart and that 'Monkey Business'.

Dixie Chicks? They just went through a bunch of stuff with the public and media. Wouldnt say theyre gone, but fans have lost a lot of respect for them.

The Dixie Chicks are still at the top of the charts. They've sold out 59 concert dates and they have the utmost respect from their fans.

But anyway, Dana Plato, for reasons that will never make sense to me, had her career ruined because she became pregnant while she was on Diff'rent Strokes. She married her boyfriend, who she loved, but for some reason she was more or less blacklisted in Hollywood after that.

Wink re: Welcome to McDonald's, Mr. Jackson, submit app. here

Kevin DuBrow of Quiet Riot, for badmouthing other musicians after their success hitting the top of the charts 20 years ago with "Metal Health". His band plummeted a year later and he was fired from the band for years.

David Lee Roth, for being the usual egomaniac. He could have been either a big movie star with a movie that was stopped during production, "Crazy From the Heat", if he'd played by the rules. Also the David Lee Roth Band in 1986 featuring Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan was destined to become the biggest band on the planet with the greatest rock show ever seen--until he fired the two guys, both considered to be one of the best guitarists and bassists in the world. And of course, he shouldn't have mouthed off to Eddie Van Halen about having hip replacement surgery. And how about that Sam & Dave tour with Sammy Hagar!!!

And of course the above post title is self-explanitory...

Oh I know, they're whicked popular still. But after they made their political comments it was like all hell broke loose. People are still talking about it.

Speaking of Diff'rent Strokes, what about Gary Coleman? He gets a lot of flack now.

Unhappy ok

In the UK- there is a good family entertainer and comedian- michael barrymore. Anyway- Michael barrymore is homosexual, and used drugs sometimes. Anyway- at a gathering at his house two years ago, some guy died in Michael's pool. The guy had some injuries 'supposed sexual injuries'. The wife (I think) of the dead guy said the man in the pool wasn't gay, and would scorn at shows with gay people. Also- alot of people said Michael Barrymore can't swim, and weeks before his agent booked him swimming lessons. Then Michael Barryomore's wife said he could swim, but she's his ex wife, so porbably hates him. Anyway- Michael was fired from his show right after the body turned up, he fled to mauritius right away and was ridiculed because of it- but who wouldn't want to clear their head after that. People at the party claim the guy was very drunk and left in the pool for ten minutes, and they went looking him. Anyway- Barrmore was a respected family entertainer, he was cleared of charges, but still hasn't been revived on tv. I think he's innocent- Matthew Kelly (another presenter) was accused of Child Sex Charges, after a few weeks charges were dropped, he was fired once the charges were brough up, then retire when the charges were dropped. Michael Barrymore is now going to be a comedian in new zealand, and deserves to succeed. Just because there's a body, doesn't mean Barrymores guilty, but because there was no evidence about Matthew Kell'y sex charges, he's immediately clared and given his job back. That's what I hate- you're accused and people are suspicious for the rest of your life, like Michael Jackson.

Yeah, Gary Coleman gets flack. I think the 'wump on Gary Coleman crowd' is a cottage industry. What's so dangerous, scary, or worth picking on about Gary Coleman? People seem to feel perfectly comfortable and justified making fun of Gary Coleman. It's scary if you think about it. Why is it so 'okay' to trash certain celebs--former or otherwise?

I think its because people find it easy to pick on him. Just like Michael Jackson and Monica Lewinsky.

More ruined careers:

Jim and Tammy 'I love my mascara' Faye Baker. They got caught with their fingers in the cookie jar.

Someone help me out here. Who was the religious evangelist who lost his show due to a sex scandal? I can see his tear streamed face begging for forgiveness, but I can't put a name to it. It feels like it was in the 80s.

I wouldn't say Martha Stewart's career is ruined. She's laughing all the way to the bank, but she did lose respect from a lot of people.

I thought that was Jim and Tammy...

Anyway, the only other name that comes to my mind is Jerry Falwell. Is it him you're thinking of?

No, with Jim and Tammy, it was an embezzlement deal. Jim did prison time. I'm thinking of someone who had an affair. In fact, she was famous for a while too. It wasn't Falwell. He's still around. Maybe it was. I'm confused. What else is new, lol.

That's right. And you know he is Jerry Lee Lewis' cousin. Jerry Lee Lewis took quite a hit to his career when he married he's 13 or 14 year old cousin.
