Default Guitar Players

How many of you play guitar, and when did you start? I am wanting to take lessons sometime in the near future, like maybe get a guitar for Christmas or something. I'm 15, which may seem kind of old to just begin, but I really would like to learn to play one. But, I read Kurt Cobain was 14 when he started playing, so I dunno. Just curious.

Forever young, I want to be forever young.
Do you really want to live forever?

I started playing at 13.I'm 15.I play the electric guitar which is the same thing just wanted to tell everyone.I've almost been playing for two years. The last two months has mostly been basic stuff which i'm bored of, but I should practice ALOT more so maybe if I did I can get on to the music besides the standard books again.

You should get one if you want it.Just practice hard everyday!Good luck!

I started playing when I was 11, and Im 16 now. I'm self taught mostly and everyone says im incredibly good for being self taught. I have 3 guitars, and I know a TON of songs. On sunday I have a recital and Im playing "Masterpiece" by Carolyn Dawn Johnson. But any way Ive played for 6 years and I think im pretty good

I've been playing bass guitar since I was 14. I've never taken lessons so everything I know is self-taught. I've been told I'm really good - I guess I'm OK but I'm not amazing at it. I was in a band for a while when I was in school but we broke up.

I got an electric guitar for Christmas. Unfortunately, I don't get to play much but I can play a little. I've learned how to play some tabs and I can play Smoke on the Water & I HEard it to the Grapevine. My guitar keeps getting out of tune though-probably from where I run into it & the cats knock it over all of the time.

I always thought it would really be cool to play the guitar, but my mom and dad wouldn't pay for lessons. I still want to, but 17 is kind of old to start playing.

Not really, unless you want to make a career out of it. For a hobby and your own personal enjoyment, you're never too old. You'd be pretty well accomplished by the time you're 30.
Being an older student may actually benefit you because you're more mature and focused now than you were 10 or so years ago. You'd be doing it for yourself and not for your parents or anyone else.

My mom and dad know a place where I could get lessons, so I wouldnt' have to teach myself or anything. And I'm already pretty good with music. So maybe if I do take lessons by the times I'm 18 or 19 I could be a halfway decent player.

My brother taught himself and I tried for awhile, but couldn't get the grasp of it. I have no musical talent - I think I should stick with designing web sites.

Cool re: guitar playing

I started playing when I was 14, by learning Tony Iommi, Alex Lifeson, Jeff Beck, and Michael Schenker.
