Ooooh, you've done it now!! You mentioned doctors to The Mossopp and now she cannot help but go on a massive rant! Strap yourselves in......
My doctor - Dr. Falkoner - is a total b*st*rd!! He's patronising, he things he's God, he thinks that any patient who enters his office is a time-waster and he can't be bothered to even act like he cares! I've mentioned before that I suffered from an eating disorder when I was a teenager. When my mother finally noticed (after I'd lost over 20lbs from my already skinny frame!) she dragged me off to see Dr. Falconer and I will never forget the way he treated me. I got into his office (he never even offered me a seat - I sat down of my own accord). He looked at me disparagingly and said "Hmm, looking a bit thin aren't you?" I didn't answer him so he said "Get on the scales!" so I did. He didn't even bother to get out of his seat and asked me to tell him what the scale said! He then asked me if I'd been eating right and I told him I had, even if it was a lie. He just replied "Hmmmmm" Now put yourself in a doctors position: a young teenage girl comes into your office, she's obviously sick and there are obviously some underlying emotional problems at the root of it. You would try to be compassionate woudn't you? You'd try - no, you'd want - to get to the root of it wouldn't you? Not Dr. Falconer! He wanted me to come back to see him in a month and he basically said that, if I hadn't put on weight by that time, he'd send me away somewhere! NICE WAY TO TREAT SOMEONE WHO WAS ALREADY IN A FRAGILE STATE, HUH??? My doctor is a total ********!!! ![]()

The only thing I don't like about visiting the doctor is they are always in such a big hurry. The medical assistants seem to be the ones who take more time with you an ask more questions. Once the doctor walks in, he/she is in and out of there and I feel like I am holding them up if I try and ask questions.

Depends on which you mean-
I only see my regular doctor once a year. For a phyisical. I don't like him. I'd prefer a female doctor, but nooooo... my mother won't dare lift her finger to help me out. She's like "He's fine". Idiot. I also see a Pulminologist (sp?) We are friends with him and everyone in his office so if I'm sick, we just go there. We don't even bother with the regular doctor. Most of the time when I'm sick, it's bronchitis anyway, so it's like killing two birds with one stone.

I had to get a sports physical maybe a month ago, and it's the first time I've been to the dr. in a LONG time. Well, she kept asking me questions!
"Are you or any of your friends *lowers voice, like it's some mortal sin* sexually active?" "Do you ever feel like hurting yourself?" "You dont diet, or throw up your food, do you?" UGH! And then she told me that if I ever needed to talk, to call the dr's office. Yeah....sure. I'm going to talk to a complete stranger about cutting myself, or being bulimic. Geez. So, to answer the question. Yes, they annoy the crap out of me.

Doctors REALLY annoy me and I've been to enough of them to know!!They can't even find the reason why I've been ill for 15 yrs.!!I hate going to the DRs,because for me,it's such a confrontational thing and is upsetting.

The Dr. I have now is fine- nice guy, explains things well, etc. When I went in to confess my anxiety problem, he didn't make me feel like I was crazy. I had a lady before him that was a bitchy ho. She made me feel crazy for one.
![]() Then there was this other time that I went in and found out I'd blown out my middle ear. Okay, so she tells me to give it two weeks and if it doesn't get a little better, come back. Three weeks go by and it still hurts like hell, so I go back. And she's like "Why are you here? These things can take months to heal." Then why the hell didn't you say that the first time??? But what really annoys me...insurance companies. Blood-sucking vampires, all of them. |

My doctor is pretty cool. She's a really nice lady and when I go there with something wrong she's really nice about and even if she doesn't think there's really anything wrong with me she will try and give an explanation of why I feel like I do. My uncle is also a doctor in Maryland and he's cool, but then again he's not my doctor. He was voted one of the top 25 pediatricians in the state though.
