A few months ago I posted about the Tulia, Texas drug case debacle. I passed along information that concluded that the case was a travesty of justice, and a tip of the iceberg scenario regarding the war on drugs. 46 people were arrested and subsequently convicted in the small town of Tulia. Wide scale racism and corruption, and one undercover cop, Tom Coleman, ruined a lot of lives. That happened in July of '99. Yesterday (or quite recently) Coleman was exposed for the cretin that he is. All of the convictions were overturned and the wrongly convicted were released. This is a tremendous victory for the individuals directly affected and for all who care about the present and future fate of justice in America.
The article in this link tells the story. http://alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=15551 |
