Default To all of you Anti-bush people

To all of you people who sit around and crack on Bush and his campaign, calling him stupid, ignorant, and even go as far to say he deserves to die... to everyone who feels this war is pointless and state that they feel they could do a better job blind folded... take the time to read this. Yes, it's long, but it's great.

Heard it on the radio this morning... B93.7 FM..

The Hollywood group is at it again. Holding anti-war rallies, screaming about the Bush Administration, running ads in major newspapers, defaming the President and his Cabinet every chance they get, to anyone and everyone who will listen. They publicly defile them and call them names like "stupid", "morons", and "idiots".

Jessica Lange went so far as to tell a crowd in Spain that she hates President Bush and is embarrassed to be an American. And of course Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines recently told a British audience that she was ashamed that President Bush was from her home state of Texas.

So, just how ignorant are these people who are running the country? Let's look at the biographies of these "stupid", "ignorant" , "moronic" leaders, and then at the celebrities who are castigating them:

President George W. Bush: Received a Bachelors Degree from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He served as an F-102 pilot for the Texas Air National Guard. He was elected Governor of Texas on November 8, 1994. He became the first Texas Governor to be elected to consecutive four-year terms on November 3, 1998 winning 69
percent of the vote.

Vice President Dick Cheney earned a B.A. in 1965 and a Masters in 1966, both in political science. Two years later, he won an American Political Science Association congressional fellowship.

Secretary of State Colin Powell graduated from the City College of New York (CCNY), where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in geology. He also participated in ROTC at CCNY
and received a commission as an Army second lieutenant upon graduation in June 1958. His further academic achievements include a Master of Business Administration Degree from George Washington University. Secretary Powell is the recipient of numerous U.S. and foreign military awards and decorations.

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld: attended Princeton University on Scholarship (AB, 1954) and served in the U.S. Navy as a Naval aviator; He has served as the U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Assistant to the President, Director of White House Office of Operations, White House Chief of Staff, and Secretary of Defense.

Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge was raised in a working class family in veterans' public housing in Erie. He earned a scholarship to Harvard, graduating with honors in 1967. After his first year at The Dickinson School of Law, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served as an infantry staff sergeant in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star for Valor. After returning to Pennsylvania, he earned his Law Degree and was in private practice before becoming Assistant District Attorney in Erie County. He was elected to Congress in 1982. He was the first enlisted Vietnam combat veteran elected to the U.S. House, and was overwhelmingly re-elected six times.

National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice earned her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Denver in 1974; her Master's from the University of Notre Dame in 1975; and her Ph.D. from the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Denver in 1981.

(Note: Rice enrolled at the University of Denver at the age of 15, graduating at 19 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science (Cum Laude).

So who are these celebrities? What is their education? What is their experience in affairs of State or in National Security? While I will defend to the death their right to express their opinions, I think that if they are going to call into question the intelligence of our leaders, we should also have all the facts on their educations and background:

Barbra Streisand : Completed high school Career: Singing and acting

Cher: Dropped out of school in 9th grade. Career: Singing and acting

Martin Sheen: Flunked exam to enter University of Dayton. Career: Acting

Jessica Lange: Dropped out college mid-freshman year. Career: Acting

Alec Baldwin: Dropped out of George Washington U. Career: Acting

Julia Roberts: Completed high school, Career: Acting

Sean Penn: Completed High school, Career: Acting

George Clooney: Dropped out of Northern Kentucky University, Career: Acting

Sarah Jessica Parker: Completed High School, Career: Acting

Natalie Maines: In high school she was a cheerleader and a member of her school choir. She often argued with teachers, telling them she didn't need to know math and science; she was going to be a star. After high school she attended Texas Tech, waited tables at a local Italian restaurant, then dropped out of college to pursue her music career.

While comparing the education and experience of these two groups, we should also remember that President Bush and his cabinet are briefed daily, even hourly, on the War on Terror and threats to our security. They are privy to information gathered around the world concerning the Middle East, the threats to America, the intentions of terrorists and terrorist-supporting governments. They are in constant communication with the CIA, the FBI, Interpol, NATO, The United Nations, our own military, and that of our allies around the world. We cannot simply believe that we have full knowledge of the threats because we watch CNN!!

They only have a deep-seated hatred for all things Republican by nature, and no one knows quite why, the Hollywood elitists detest Conservative views and anything that supports or uplifts the United States of America. The silence was deafening from these same celebrities when Bill Clinton bombed a pharmaceutical factory outside of Khartoum, or when he attacked the Bosnian Serbs in 1995 and 1999. He bombed Serbia itself to get Slobodan Milosevic out of Kosovo, and not a single peace rally was held.

When our Army Rangers were ambushed in Somalia and 18 young American lives were lost (that story can be seen in the movie Black Hawk Down), not a peep was heard from Hollywood. Yet now, after our nation has been attacked on its own soil, after 3,000 Americans were killed by freedom-hating terrorists, they want to hold rallies against the war.

Why the change? Because an honest, I believe it is because a God-loving Republican sits in the White House. And do these celebrities believe that since they draw such astronomical salaries, they are entitled to also determine the course of our Nation?

Does Sean Penn fancy himself a Diplomat, in going to Iraq when we were just weeks away from war? Does he believe that his High School Diploma gives him the knowledge (and the right) to go to a country that is controlled by a maniacal dictator, and speak on behalf of the American people? Or is it the fact that he pulls in more money per year than the average American worker will see in a lifetime? Does his bank account give him clout?

The ultimate irony is that many of these celebrities have made a shambles of their own lives, with drug abuse, alcoholism, numerous marriages and divorces, and scrapes with the law, etc. How dare they pretend to know what is best for an entire nation! What is even more bizarre is how many people in this country will listen and accept their views, simply because they liked them in a certain movie, or have fond memories of an old television sitcom!

Yes, it is a wonderful dream to sit down with dictators and terrorists and join hands, singing Kumbaya and talking of world peace. But it is not real.

We did not stop Adolf Hitler from taking over the entire continent of Europe by simply talking to him. We sent our best and brightest, with the strength and determination that this Country is known for, and defeated the Nazi regime.

Saddam Hussein has used Scud missiles in violation of UN resolution 1441. Missiles that he swore he didn’t have in a recent weapons report. Missiles that the weapons inspectors couldn’t find in 12 years of searching.

It is a matter of record that he has used poison Mustard gas on his own citizens. Our government has released audio tapes of Iraqi military officers discussing chemical weapons.

And it will be a matter of record that America has done the right thing by deposing a murderous dictator and liberating an oppressed country with the second Persian Gulf War. Mark my words…

What a lot of people don't understand is that qualifications do not necessarily equal intelligence. Qualifications are just certificates, pieces of paper, letters after your name.
It's possible to have loads of acedemic qualifications yet not know anything at all.
I'm a prime example. Even though I have worked in the Accounting field for almost 3 years and have passed all of my accounting training course to date, I still understand sweet F.A. about the subject. I wouldn't consider myself acedemically gifted yet I still left school with 8 Standard Grades, 5 Highers and a CSYS certificate in Geography.
Also, just cos someone acts for a living or plays music for a living does not mean that they are stupid. I'm a musician (in my spare time) and have played in bands with a lot of people, none of whom were stupid or ignorant in any way. In fact, all of the people whom I have met through my interest in music have been a hell of a lot more intelligent and interesting than the vast majority of people I have met in my professional life.

Intelligence or career aptitude should not and cannot be measured on acedemic qualifications.

...well, I do agree that when Clinton bombed the place, no one said anything, and he didnt get a resolution or anything either. 1 thing i hate is when ppl will get mad when one person does something and not when another does the same thing....

While I do agree with what Mossopp said about book smarts not equalling street smarts so-to-speak, I think a lot of these celebs just like to run off their mouths to whomever will listen. And the nerve of them leaving the country to say that stuff. Come back home and say it!! Besides, you really do learn a lot about the world going to college. Not that I'm saying you're ignorant if you don't. My folks didn't go and they're smart.

I agree with you, Mossopp. In my psych class last semester I learned that IQ tests aren't an accurate measurement of intelligence. It doesn't matter where George Bush got his education. Academically, his IQ might be very high, but common sense-wise, I'm not so sure. I also think that musicians are very smart. If they weren't smart, they wouldn't be able to write songs or be able to play musical instruments. And, I'm sure that all the artists out there are capable of doing that.

I would be embarrassed and ashamed, too if I was an American. (Thankfully, I'm Canadian). Jessica Lange and Natalie Maines have the right to say what ever they want. Heck, after I heard about the Dixie Chicks being ashamed, that made me want to go and buy one of their CDs. I'm planning to do so next month after I get paid. The Dixie Chicks rule!

But going to a different country and bashing your home country is ludacrist, as well as half-assed and cowardly. You want to say something bad about the country, fine go ahead. But do it in your own country. If you're Swedish, don't go all the way to Guam to bash and criticise your government thinking no one will notice.

Baaaaaah! Baaaaaah! I agree with everything that's spoonfed to me. Baaaaaaah! Baaaaaaah! I'm not allowed to have my own opinion, because MandieR1980 says so. Baaaaaaaah! Baaaaaaaah! Because if my opinions stray from hers, I have to move to Siberia. Baaaaaaaaah! Baaaaaaaaah! According to her, if I don't agree with everything the government does, it means I'm not supporting the country (Baaaaaaaaaah! Baaaaaaaaaah!), and if she says it, it must be true. Baaaaaaaaaaah! Baaaaaaaaaaah! I like the movie "Beetlejuice." Does that make me a bad boy? Baaaaaaah! Baaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

it's not a matter of opinion it's putting down your own country, why stay someplace you don't like. This war is protecting us from being attacked. Would you rather us do nothing and let everyone get hurt?

How is being anti-war and anti-Bush being against your country? Aren't you forgetting, little girl, that one of the things that makes this country great is descent? Our opinions are allowed to differ, Mandie. You're pro-war. That's great. So are most people I know, including my entire family and most of my friends. They'd be sad if I had to pack my bags and live the rest of my life in the Congo. They'd miss me.

The war isn't protecting us from attacks, Mandie. If anything, it's going to trigger more terrorist attacks. I don't want that. No matter what some conservative jokers tell you, I love my country and don't want it to be attacked again. But that's exactly what's gong to happen.

And I don't want to have to move to Cuba because of my differing opinions. Besides, they'd probably make me sit next to Tim Robbins on the plane, and I hear he smells bad.
