Anyone else remember Mr. B's boss Mr. Griffin making a casual reference to having actually PROPOSED to Hazel but her having turned him down? It was during a 3-way conversation between these two and Mr. B!
Would anyone have liked to have seen an episode that revolved around the proposal/rejection and aftermath? It might have been interesting to have seen how Hazel tactfully but firmly let him down (considering that he was her boss's boss!)- and it says something that she preferred remaining a maid even in late middle age rather than becoming the wife of a wealthy and promiment man who'd have easily guaranteed her security into old age! |

The dream episode you describe actually happened. Mr. Griffin did propose to Hazel in the first season when the show was in b/w. The show you're talking about was one of the color episodes from the second season when the main story was about Mr. B wanting his tax rebate. But in the b/w episodes Mr. Griffin did propose to Hazel and Hazel told him that while she respected Mr. Griffin she didn't really love him. It was a very well written show, funny when it needed to be and tender when it needed too. Bravo once again to this remarkable series which deserves every episode shown on TV Land, not just 20 over and over.
