You asked me how I can like Lucy Wants a Career when she falls face first in to that cereal bowl because it looks painful and yet on The Fur Coat Ricky falls flat on his face and that looks painful and it's your favorite???? Now how does that work? Just out of curiosity, what part of the episode do you like so much?

That she goes nuts about the coat when she thinks it's for Ethel, how she reacts when he tells her it's for the show and she thinks it's for her, how she says she always says it's their anniversary when she sees a good present, how she wears it to bed, how he reminds the crook he forgot to take the coat when he leaves, how she wants to kill Ricky for THAT one. How shw wears it washing dishes, uses it as a blanket in bed, cuts it up and says Ricky won't notice it';s a fake because men dun't notice things like that. How she made the mink t shirt, how she got gifts anyway even though it wasn't their anniversary. Shall i go on? It had to hurt her when she fell into the bowl, that's her face, her livelyhood, him falling, who cares, he was so short anyway, it was a very small trip, LOL! Just kidding!

Speaking as somebody who's very short... Hey!

Desi doesn't mind falling over though. Watch the episodes. He falls over in half of them, gets thrown about by Lucy in the other half, gets beaten up by her in... the other half... Okay, few too many halves there.

Either way, he seems to enjoy it!

He probably longed to get some of that slapstick glory she always enjoyed.

Well, if you can't think of anything... You know, Mickey, I think he did enjoy falling down. Cuz you're right, he did do that ALOT.

Then why wasn't it half so funny when she was the one doing the falling over?

Stands back and awaits backlash.

lol I laughed my head off when Desi fell and when Lucy's face fell in the face bowl. I dodn't really think about them hurting themselves. But Desi's looked like it hurt more..ouch. He fell wham bam right on the floor didn't even try to stop himself with his hands or knees..Desi was just a good actor wasn't he? lol

That's where you and I differ, i never found anything he did funny, he was the straight man after all, but he did get that bugged out eye thing right after doing it on practically every show, there, nobody could touch him, and the singing too of course, to think i used to hate all those musical numbers growing up and now i love them to death. Of course, when you've been hearing the same songs for half a century, they tend to get very familiart and nice to hear.

That was pretty impressive. I don't think I could do that.

Yup Splain, THAT'S where you and I differ. lol I don't really judge who's my favorite by how funny they are, so I'm not saying Desi was the funniest. But I do think he was funny.

I don't thik I could do that either Lodee! *tries it and busts head open* Nope can't do it! *cackles*

Like i said before, many times, as a child i fell in love with the character of Lucy, then discovered the others around her, and started loving them also, then as i got older, i found out they all had great contributions to the show and it was the perfect meshing of four of the greatest performers that ever got together for anything. But i rarely laugh at any of the three, they all had their moments of course, but the one that kept me coming back for 50 years was Lucy. However, it IS extremely hard to picture the show with Richard Denning and Bea and Gale instead of that great trio! And the absence of the Desi musical numbers would be a great loss also!

I could live without Desi's musical numbers. You're right though, Lucy IS the star but it would be so different without Desi, Viv, and Bill. I still think it would have worked though, afterall her later shows did pretty well without them.

Well, you and I know that, but that's so hard to say around here! LOL! I'm one of the few people who enjoyed The Lucy show MORE when Viv left, there were no longer any distractions from my Lucy and her celeb friends! Besides Viv was uppity, not like Ethel at all! I like my best friends lovable, not someone to always tangle with! That was the reason i hated Gale back then also, always yelling and screaming.
