Exclamation Actual Songs that Johnny Played

I'd like to compile a list of all the songs that Johnny played during WKRP's run.

(With the music changes it is difficult to know from the most recent airings)

But only Johnny - not Venus or Moss or a time when someone else was in the booth.

So, please list any songs that you know Johnny played on the show.

Here is a start:

"Queen of the Forest" by Ted Nugent.
"Bad Case of Lovin' You" by Robert Palmer
"Dogs" by Pink Floyd
"Money" by Flying Lizards
"The Long Run" by The Eagles
"Light My Fire" by the Doors
"Surfin' USA" by The Beach Boys

I'm pretty sure it was Carl Perkins with Blue Suede Shoes, though that can be easily checked.

And with Hot Blooded, I think it couldn't have been Johnny since Les was getting ready for his date (trying on the wig) and I assume it was in the late afternoon at some point.
Though that can be checked and figured out I suppose.

And yeah, Jaimie is the one who could give us a complete list or the closest we can find to complete.

Jaime?

it was carl perkins version of "blue suede shoes"
it was on DR.FEVER AND MR.TIDE.
johnny fever introduced the song as "blue suede shoes" by elvis presley but in the middle of the song he realizes its the carl perkins version.
he blamed riptide for the mistake.
i remember the quote"riptide can't tell the difference between elvis presley and carl perkins"
or something to that effect.

Default Beatles on WKRP

Johnny played "Come Together" in one episode, introducing it by saying something like John Lennon's a rock and roll monster.
And in the episode titled Out to Lunch when Herb shares a few drinks with guest star Craig T Nelson, you can hear "Here Comes the Sun" and Paul McCartney's "Every Night" playing in the background. There are some Beatle references for you all.

I do remember the "Come Together" scene.

But I don't remember about the other 2 songs. Was it definitely Johnny who was playing them?

By the way, the WKRP board just passed the 1,000 post mark.
Finally!!!!

I just threw that in because it related. I don't think they were played by Johnny because Herb and his buddy played by Craig T Nelson are drinking in a bar or restaraunt and those two songs can be heard in the background. They may have had WKRP on the radio or it could have been another station.
Cool about the 1000th post. A nice little milestone for all the WKRP fans who visit. Great job everyone!

"come together" was played in the episode "johnny and jennifers charity".
funny opening scene where les was reporting on a "monster lizard" causing problems in the new england area.
again johnny corrects les!
it was a "monster Blizard" causing problems in the new england area.
the B was out on the teletype machine!
one of the funniest opening scenes ever on WKRP.

From Fish Story/Hold Up home video release

Blue Collar Man-Styx (Only the intro organ riff is heard)
Drinking Wine (Spo Dee O Dee)-Jerry Lee Lewis
Whisky Bar-Doors
Another blues-y number I can't remember right now....

Also:
Mercedes Benz-Janis Joplin
Like A Rolling Stone-Bob Dylan
(These appear in "Hold-Up", but are actually played by Bobby Boogie. Presumably they are Johnny's records, however).

Others I remember:
Eagles "The Long Run" (seem to remember Andy running into the booth, excited that Johnny was playing a top-ten hit).

And who could forget the Hallelujah Tabernacle Choir's stirring rendition of "You're Having My Baby"!

Also:
Supertramp "Goodbye Stranger" (In the one where the ratings only go up slightly and Andy is none too pleased)

Steely Dan "Peg" (In the "Real Families" episode)

Sly & the Family Stone "If You Want Me to Stay" (in the episode where Johnny tells listeners to dump their garbage in the mayor's front yard to protest a garbage collectors' strike)
