Question A little fantasy....

This is just speculation, but if you could write a script for what happened to these characters after I Love Lucy went off the air, what would you say happened? Did everyone live happily ever after? We all know what happened in real life, but Lucy and Desi were not completely like Lucy and Ricky.

Cool

I would have written an episode that involved the closing of the Tropicana nightclub. Ricky would have complained to Lucy about the new sound of Rock-n-Roll and the demise of his band. Then Ricky would somehow convert his act to a rock band to include Lucy, Fred & Ethel.

I know this thread is like 100 years old, but there are a lot more people here now, so I'm curious if anyone else has some fanfic-like ideas for the characters after the show stopped.

I didn't watch the whole series of I Love Lucy, so I don't remember how they ended it. However the closing of the Tropicana sounds good. Maybe they moved to Florida (I can't even remember what city they were supposed to be living in on the show) for retirement?

Sorry that's so lame....

A fanfic I have consdidered writing is where an annual engagement in Miami has become the norm, and around 1960-62 they travel by car to Florida, taking a side trip through the Blue Ridge Mountains, and happen to come through Mayberry, NC.

I like the idea of Ricky selling the Tropicana; maybe I'd have them move permanently to California and Ricky becomes a full time actor.

Oh my gosh, can you imagine Lucy in quiet little Mayberry? They probably thought they had it bad when Danny Williams went through!

i would've like to have seen little ricky grow up and see how lucy deals with various pta events. then after a couple of years in the country, the gang will be itching to get out, so off to california they go. i always enjoyed the la episodes the most, so that would be wonderful. maybe lucy could finally get into showbiz since little ricky would be around 12 and wouldn't be a baby anymore.

Okay, I'll give it a shot.

Let's start with the idea that Ricky sells the Club Babalu:

After it's sold, Ricky decides to open a musical / dinner theater in Westport. He begins putting on popular productions and although business is slow at first, it soon becomes one of the hottest places in town. He even allows Lucy a part every now and then. His main problem becomes finding enough help to help him run the place. This problem is solved with his family; because the family Lucy met in Havana have all fled Cuba after the Castro take over. His musical / dinner theater called "Ricky's" becomes a real family business.

While this is going on, Fred and Ethel have been offered a substantial sum for their apartment building. It seems the neighborhood is targeted for a large urban renewal project, and all the property owners make out like bandits.

With their new found wealth, they buy a beautiful house next door to the Ricardos and settle into a well earned retirement.

After several years have passed, little Ricky, now a teenager and called Rick by all but his parents and the Mertzes has moved into the guest house. He goes through most of the same things kids and teenagers do, and eventually goes to college to get an MBA in business. He still loves to play the drums and even formed his own band while in high school. Of course Lucy managed to interfere from time to time.

All is well and Ricky, Lucy, Fred and Ethel live out their lives in the peace and tranquility of Westport, Conn.

As for little Ricky (Rick) He eventually married, and had two boys and two girls, which he names Ricky, Lucy, Fred and Ethel. Named after the four people who had the biggest influence on his life. As it turned out, he inherited not only his parents estate, but since the Mertzes never had children of their own, and always thought of little Ricky as their son, left everything to him as well.

He still runs the theater and in the lobby are tribute statues of Ricky, Lucy, Fred and Ethel with selected pieces of memorabilia on display as well.

He begins to read the journal his dad had kept over the years and learns of all of his mother's antics and the adventures his parents and God-parents had. He eventually documents all of these stories and develops them into a series of books called the "Life With Lucy" series. They're eventually optioned by a television network and becomes a series called "I Love Lucy." It becomes a ratings hit and runs for 7 years.

LOL This person must've left the forum after getting a job at a television network because this is exactly the kind of crap they would come up with.

Hopefully this person isn't still here under a different name. If so, sorry!

That sounds like a dynomite idea. Especially the fact that it brings up the idea that their adventures read by little Ricky would end up being a series called "I Love Lucy" which would restart the show. A True Circle.

Lucy and Ricky divorce which lands Lucy in the nut house because she's criminally insane. Then Ethel kills Fred and winds up in the same nut house in the room next to Lucy's. The two stay best friends forever.
