Default Can we all jsut...

Can we all just disagree agreeingly (sp?)? i mean I swear in almost every post people put each other down and say bad things. Can't we just respect everyone elses opinions without blowing up in their faces? I am not being hypocritical about this issue becasue I do realize I ahve been doing the same thing. i am sick of it though.

I wouldn't say that every post turns into an arguement but you are correct in-so-far-as there have been quite a few disagreements of late. However, I think that when we are discussing political issues and national issues and war and suchlike then it's enevitable that not everyone is gonna see eye-to-eye.
I admit that I have been guilty of losing it with a few people recently. I called a couple of people stupid names which I regret cos I don't need to stoop that low. I just get rattled when people don't think and just believe something cos they think it's expected of them. I also get mad when people don't respect my nationality and the fact that it's important to me (and it's even more important to me here, in the context of this board, because I am the only Scottish person here).

I think as long as the argument is constructive, it's okay, but name-calling and the like are a bit elementary school.

I agree. I have lost some interest in this place because of the name-calling and what not. It seems like I post less and less as each month passes by.

Sometimes, when someone has strong feelings about a topic, they have little tolerance for someone with a different opinion onthe subject. That can lead to lots of hurt feelings. I have been guilty of that, as have others around here.

We're all decent folks here, I'm sure our differences can be worked out.

it bugs me when people can't accept the fact that not everyone agrees with them. Politics, social issues, and stuff like that are definitely going to bring arguements, and as long as the disagreements are construchtive, it's OK.I like a good discussion.

Fighting over stupid things like TV shows and music is just lame and a waste of time. I've had people question my intelligence and call me stupid just because I don't like the same things they like. It's really childish and immature, IMHO.

Yeah, ditto.

I don't really post as much as I used to either. I stay out of the some of the picture threads and the random threads and I def. stay out of political threads. I don't know all that much about politics, so I stay out of the posts I don't know that much about.

I agree. We all have our own views and opinions. Nagging and starting **** with someone wont change their views.

Same here Jenny. I don't like to mix my sitcoms and politics. I'm not entirely up to speed on all current events anyway.
I come to SO to talk about entertainment and light topics.

Same here. I have learned my lesson. I will no longer talk politics.

From now on, I'm sticking to things I am qualified to make fun of.

Right Janice! This started out to be fun Let's keep it that way! Uh oh, Did I unwittingly start another argument?
