Thumbs up The Sopranos was terrific tonight

Tonight's show was a standout. The scene where Tony kills Ralphie was positively wild. Tony can take a lot I guess, but burn his horse alive, and you end up in the bathtub in pieces, not to mention your head in a bowling bag. I'm sorry to see Ralphie go. I loved hating him.
I knew Ralphie was angry with Tony after being told he's seeing Valentina.
The aftershock of his killing will be interesting. The previews showed Johnny Sac in a showdown with Tony.
Christopher still on the junk--I just hate that storyline. It's disturbing to me. I like seeing him in top form and quick witted.
I hope we finally reach a resolution with Uncle Jr's trial. Enough already. They've been dragging this one on for too long. It was funny though watching him fake dementia for the court doctor.
Not too much of Dr. Melfi this season. I always hoped that Tony would find out about the rape, but that storyline apparently fell by the wayside.
Briandamage, you pointed out the fact that they abandon storylines, and I agree. One of the best episodes ever was when Christopher and Paulie were caught in the snowy woods chasing the Russian, eating ketchup and relish, lol....Paulie saying, "I think he's an interior designer."
I thought the Russian mob would be a huge plot.
This Carmella and Furio thing is on the path to hell. They might as well just commit suicide together.
Not a lot of Meadow and AJ either which suits me fine. I don't watch The Sopranos for family and college drama.
This Adriana and Feds situation, hopefully, will get wrapped up this season, but I think it will be part of the cliff-hanger.
It's all leading to a big finale which I assume is coming soon. I've enjoyed this season so far.
Then, we just have to wait another 18 months for another season.

The way it looks to me is maybe Tony is gonna try to pin the blame on the New York mob. I agree with you about Christopher and the drugs. I use to love his comedic quick wit. Dr. Melfi has become almost useless this season. It'll be interesting to see how Paulie will fit in to this brewing situation with Tony and the New Yorkers.

One other thing about last night's episode, I kinda felt bad for Ralphie when he died. I mean he was always the guy you loved to hate, but in his final episode he looked like he was turning a new leaf. Maybe I'm crazy, but his son's accident made him more vulnerable and human.

I know what you mean. I also found myself feeling bad for Ralphie at a certain point, but then I get a reality check...I think of the dancer he beat to death a few season's ago. He couldn't really redeem himself after the brutality of that....and that poor horse. Yikes!
Yet still, his final show was designed to make him appear more vulnerable. That explains the storyline about his son almost dying, and showing Ralphie's pain.
I think it was a mistake writing Ralphie off. I know they're all bad guys, but the show needs a real villian. Ralphie replaced Ritchie in the villian department. Ironically, they were both carted out in Hefty bags.
Good theory Brian, on Tony blaming the New York mob. I hadn't thought of that. It makes sense.
I'm not up on my mob rankings, but I wonder if Tony is as powerful as Johnny Sac? I know Tony's the acting capo (I think) for Uncle Jr. I'm guessing they have equal rank but just operate in different locations.

They are equal, both Tony and Johnny are underbosses. Tony might even have a little more stroke than Johnny because he is the acting Capo.

I think however, Johnny Sac seems to have more power because he's from New York and I think the New York mob is stronger than the New Jersey one.

Thanks Brian. When Johnny Sac was getting out of hand over the fat remark Ralphie made about his wife Jinny, and the hit was put on Johnny, it had to be sanctioned by Carmine (think that's his name). This means that Carmine is the Boss or is it the Don? In the sense that John Gotti was?
Also, when Johnny Sac put the contract out on Ralphie, was he doing this on his own? This would be a violation of code, right?
Can I ask enough questions?

I had the incredible misfortune of not being able to see this last episode. Ralphie?...he had to go. He was a monster. There's no way that you could trust the guy. He was a lunatic, and that's just too dangerous. He was too much for me. If Tony went on tolerating the guy I'd have to question Tonie's judgement.Tonie's judgemnet holds everything together on the show.

Carmine can be considered a boss or a Don. Yes, he would be the equivalent to John Gotti, while Johnny Sac would be considered an underboss like Sammy "The Bull" Gravano.

Yes, Johnny Sac tried to put an unauthorized hit on Ralph. That's a reason why Carmine put a hit on Johnny because he knew Johnny was going to do something stupid that would cause a war.

Jan, you can ask me anything, my secret online crush.

The only reason why Tony kept him alive so long is because Ralphie was making Tony a lot of money. The rest of his crew were F@#king up. Stealing from the job site, doing drugs and making a big stink about a parade.

Well, considering there are people in my family named Gambino and Castellano, maybe I should.

Don't worry, most of those goomba's are dead or in jail. My cousin Joe Castellano is a pediatrician and his brother John is an ears, eyes and throat doctor. Not exactly the "family" business.

Looks like you were right Brian--Tony's trying to pin Ralphie's demise on New York, but I don't think anyone's buying it. Everyone's losing trust in Tony...not a good thing.
I couldn't believe when Christopher killed Adriana's dog. What's up with David Chase and the dead animals?
Christopher's intervention was just too funny. It's how I would imagine a mob intervention to turn out.
Paulie was a riot at the intervention and about Tony's portrait. He's one weird character.
Tony and the Russian woman--he'll nail anything female. It's like an afternoon at the movies for him. I've always thought that one of these days, a woman will get pregnant by him. That would turn his life upside down, and open the door to intense conflict with himself and Carmella.
I think Furio's trying to do the right thing, but his feelings for Carmella are overwhelming him. His uncle in Italy told him he'd have to kill Tony in order to be with her. Maybe his attempt at that will be part of the season finale.
Only 3 shows left. Stay tuned.
