Unhappy Bye Bye FKB on TV-Land

Sunday Sept. 1st is the last scheduled showing of "Father Knows Best" on TV-Land. The are replacing it with back to back episodes of "The Beverly Hillbillies". Like they haven't played that one to death. If this displeases you also, let them know at TV-Land. Go to TVland.com. Really give it to them. You might suggest that the change their name to VD-Land. They seem to be getting infected with some really crappy shows. Too bad when there are really some good ones out there that haven't been shown in years.

Angry VD Land indeed

TV Land is perfect proof of the old saying:

"If you can't do something right, leave it alone!"

TV Land chops up everything they show, puts that stupid logo on the bottom right, uses pointless split-screens during the end-credits(along with that annoying announcer), and speeds up the frame rate so we won't fall asleep before the next commercial.

In others words, TV Land sucks. As Robert Run said, let them know how rotten they are. Maybe they'll go out of business, and some other station -- one that has genuine respect for American television history -- will pick up these shows and do right by them.

And on the follow-up point, sadly Bob is right. FKB will not be on Sundays anymore because VD Land is eliminating the "Better Life Through Television" block.

Angry

Enraged does not even begin to express how angry I am at hearing this. For once in a long while, TVLAND finally decides, "Hey, we're gonna improve ourselves! We're gonna show 'Father Knows Best.' We're gonna show 'Burns & Allen.'"

And they decide to put a stop to it come September?

I don't think so.

I say we petition. Is anyone up for that?!

Let them hear about it at VD-Land. Hopefully someone like the PAX network of the Hallmark network will pick it up. If they do, then can only improve in the hack job that TV-Land did to the show.

Who said it was leaving?? It's only leaving weekdays in September. It will STILL air Sundays at 11:30am in September.

Unhappy Hey pavanbadal

Hey, Mr. Smartie Pants MC, you're so sure that FKB will continue through September, why don't you list the September episodes for us? Bet you can't do it.

TV Land, based on what's scheduled to show for the rest of August, is obviously DONE re-editing the shows from Columbia/TriStar. Why else stop showing the episodes in order as of this Friday?

Huh?

LOL, it's obvious you don't check my posts on the General Sitcoms Board, I get TV Land/Nick at Nite (and more networks) right from the networks. I am POSITIVE FKB will air in September, it will STILL air Sundays at 11:30AM ET/PT. It stops airing weekdays though, starting September 2nd. Are you challenging me? If so, you will get burned...

So they are going back to episode 1, 2, again skipping 3 and then 4. At this rate it will be at least 38 weeks before they need to edit another episode, or just go back to 1 again..Yippee

Default Two things about FKB on TVLand

#1 - Don't ever challenge Pav on his facts. If he says something is gonna air, it will air.

#2 - The fact that the Sunday Better Living set is continuing does NOT necessarily bode well for us FKB fans. As has already been pointed out, they are returning to episodes they've already shown. Frankly, I don't see this as a good sign at all.

And the fact that they have now jumped out of order during the rest of August isn't a good sign either. I think the sad truth is that they have NO plans at present to show us all, or even 50%, of the episodes.

Now, if Pav or anyone else can disprove that statement, I would love to hear it (really I would, because I want to see the show). But I'm not holding my breath.

B&W "I still think a petition isn't a bad idea, just for the fact that we need to let TVLand know that the measly few episodes they are throwing us aren't enough - FKB needs to be purchased as a whole set and shown daily from the first episode to the last" fan

Talking Win the Battle, Lose the War

Thanks, pavanboobie, for the list. (How did you get it this far in advance?)

Looks like "Better Living" will continue through September.

But you seem to be overlooking the larger issue. All(but one) of those "Better Living" episodes have been shown before. In fact, all of them were from the "Father's Day" FKB marathon. So, clearly, VD Land has stopped acquiring and then butchering anymore episodes from Columbia/TriStar.

Maybe. There is a ray of hope in the list. "Sentenced to Happiness" is a re-edit they have not shown before and it is episode #105. So, perhaps, this means that VD Land will be prepared to show FKB twice a day, seven days a week, from episode #1 all the way through #203 -- including "Stage to Yuma"!!

And maybe I'll win the Irish Sweepstakes.

Judging from the posted schedule of previously shown episodes, it might be better if VD-Land dropped the show altogether. This might give a more responsible network the opportunity to show a respect for the series that is definately lacking on the part of VD-Land (VD-Land, I like that, it really fits).

Excuse me while I find the petition and add my name to it.
Apparantly we all need to do our part.
