Lightbulb School?

Is there any particular reason kids don't like school these days? Is it because the school itself has a bad curriculum or is it the pressure that teachers and students give you? I always really liked school because I can actually not stay home all day and work but socialize with my freinds and have FUN! But I guess I'm the only one who doesn't like summer vacation. I rather be in school with the people I know than working and hardly ever seeing anybody. So to get to my point, do you like going to school, or would you rather not?

If I had a choice, I would go to school. It gets so boring when you're home....*this comming from my mouth is amazing! I used to cry up until 2nd grade to stay home and I still wanted to stay home....up until last year (5th grade) did I bug my mom and dad to stay home. Never worked.....well sometimes it did but...* But there are those days you just want to stay home.....Ya know? It's just better to get up, go to school, come home and begin the cycle all over again.

If there was half as much homework and I didn't have a test every school day I'd probably enjoy going so much more. Not that I ever dread going to school.. the only days I really dread are the days when I have to do something I don't want to do.. like when I have to do stuff in gym that I don't want to do but that didn't happen too often. On those days I would rather stay home.. but I've grown out of the old "fake sick" routine just to get out of stuff... I really feel better after going to school and accomplishing what I was afraid I couldn't do. But I like going to school and seeing my friends and etc. So I'd choose to go. It'd be a lot better though if school didn't start so early!!

I would much rather stay home than go to that evil horrible terrible place of doom. (Can you tell I hate school?) It isn't so much the work cause thats really easy and the teachers are usually nice but I HATE the other kids in the school. They are so annoying asking me stupid questions like why I never like to talk to them and if I worship the devil and spreading rumors that I want to kill all of them and burn down the school. I'm sick of it. I was sick of it ever since 1st grade. Uhg I HATE it so much. I wish I was homeschooled so that I could get away from those immature brats who can't handle people being different. Erm well thats why I would rather be at home. Yeah well um I'm gonna go now...

There were quite a few reasons why I hated going to school. Most of them are pretty logical-

1) My school had some stupid rules. Yet they always get on the ones that don't get in trouble everyday, but the ones that hardly do anything bad at school. See the dress code post for full info on this one

2) The bathrooms- Now everybody may find this humorous, but it sure isn't to me if I have to piss. Okay, they lock all the bathrooms except for one during class time. The teachers are supposed to unlock the doors during the bells, but most of the time I had to go to the unlocked bathroom. The reason for locking the doors was for the smokers. Build a smoking wall for them and keep the doors unlocked, or buy a smoke alarm.

3) Bathrooms, Part 2- If you are really lucky, you may get a teacher that gives you detention for asking to go to the bathroom during class. Yes, if you ask to leave the classroom 10 billion times just to get out of class- I could see giving out detention. If its a dire emergency, its just another dumb rule.

4) Tests- God, it seemed like I had a test just about everyday. If lucky I could have 4 tests in one day.

5) The fact that some teachers just can't control some people from showing their butts in class.

6) Lack of classes- I'm glad I'm out of high school, because if I went back next year and had to take more courses- I would either be stuck with all Art classes or Horticulture classes. I swear during my 4 years at hs, I took every computer class available. The other electives just didn't sound interesting.

7) Stuck up people in school- Yeah, I'm sure every school has a few. You know, the ones that think they are all tops and talk about everybody because they aren't wearing the 'right' clothes or something dumb like that. If you do show a little bit of individuality, they will say you are about to blow up the school or something. Guess we all better recruit to being sheeps or something.

Okay, I better just stop here. I guess you could pretty much say that I hated school. I could think of a million reasons why I hated school, and I think some will probably agree with my list.

ugh..i know i would be bored and i'd keep going "i'm bored, i'm bored..." but i would stay at home. it's everything i guess. pressure of getting good grades (i get straight a's and my mom is still not happy, i swear to god...), then my "friends" lol...i hate them, i hate the people i hang out with, i don't even know half of them, (i think that's the major reason why i hate school so much, it may not seem like such a biggie, but it is, to me anyway), then there's the fact that we have to get up so early, then it's english class, my teacher is SUCH a major biatch, i am so happy school's almost over, then there's the fact that teachers give you all these projects and think you only have to worry about their class, other times they know you have a zillion projects, yet they give them to you anyway. homework's never been an issue with me. for life skills, we don't usually get homework, we have so many projects though, i always have english, no computer, no pe, i do my math in class, and i do my spanish in 5 mins...but i hate school.

Same here. I'd rather stare at a wall at home than go to school. High school was okay, but college is getting to me. All my anxiety problems started in college, so I hate it and want out!!

I think everyone needs a break from school. The stress can become a bit overbearing. I barely ate during the month of May because my face was always shoved in some book. However, I think 2 and a half months can be too much of a break. There's nothing to do during the summer, especially if you don't have a job and are cut off from just about everyone else. I think a week off here and there during school would be sufficient and just forget these long summer breaks. I really don't mind going to school and if you cut out the entire 'learning process' I'd go year-round.
At times I really think I'd rather be at school with my friends than at home in my hole with my dead goldfish. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my hole, but I can only take so much of it. Give me school with a break when I see needed...

I would pick home because you can do what you want, and you don't have to worry about h/w, and if you're bored you can do something w/ your friends w/o school.
