IN THE DINING ROOM-----

Jo/Blair/Mrs. Garrett: (sitting down at the table eating dinner)

Natalie: (standing over near the window looking outside)

Mrs. Garrett: Natalie would you please come and eat you dinner.

Natalie: (she turns towards the others with a panic look on her face) Mrs. Garrett I’m worried about Tootie (she begins figgetting with the curtain again) she’s never been this late before

Jo: Nat what are you worried about it’s only 6:30

Blair: (takes a sip of milk) yeah Nat Tootie’s fine she’s just out with Jason

Natalie: (walks to the table and sits down ) Exactly and what do we know about this guy nothing

Jo: we know is name is Jason

Natalie: (getting a little upset) and that’s all we know about it. For all we know he could be a murderer or a rapist or a

Mrs. Garrett: (cuts her off) Natalie please were eating here

Natalie: (just shrugs and begins eating her dinner)

Blair: No Mrs. Garrett Natalie’s right Tootie hasn’t told us anything about this guy (stands up and starts pacing the room. She turns back towards the others) and I say the moment she comes home we sit her down and find out about this guy

Jo: (stands up and walks over towards Blair) Blair will you just leave it alone. Tootie isn’t a little girl anymore, thanks to a wonderful kind loving person she knows right from wrong

Blair: (has a smile on her face) Ah thanks Jo

Jo: I was talking about Mrs. Garrett (pauses for a moment) and Tootie has a right to her privacy. When and if she wants us about Jason that’s going to be her decision you got it

Blair: (souding defence) Ok ok I got (sighs rather loudly)

Jo / blair : (return to the table and continue eating)

Mrs. Garrett: (stands up and starts to clear some of the dishes)

Blair: (stands up and takes a glass out of her hand) Mrs. Garrett we’ll do that for you

Mrs. Garrett: thanks Blair I’m going up to take a hot bath (she heads upstairs)

Blair / Jo / Natalie: (begin stacking up the dishes)

(The screen flips, so it appears to be later in time)

Blair / Jo/ Natalie: (they walk back into the living room Jo and Blair sit on the couch. Natalie sits down on a chair)

Tootie: (walks in through the front door she goes over to the closet and hangs up her coat)

Jo: Hi how was your evening

Tootie: (she goes over and sits on a chair) oh it was great Jason and I went to the Rockin Robin Café for dinner, and then we went and saw a movie

Blair: (sounding suspestions) you guys sure see a lot of movies

Tootie: he works at the movie house and gets 2 free passes a week I’m going to go get some hot coco and head up to read a while night guys (stands up and walks towards the kitchen)

Blair: (has a huge smile on her face)

Jo: Blair I see that smile on her face and it don’t like what it’s saying

Blair: I just had another one of brillant ideas

Jo / Natalie: (look at each other and then back at Blair shake there heads and say) Oh no

Jo: Blair lets face it you’ve never had a brillant idea

Blair: No but trust me this time my idea really is brilliant

Natalie: Ok what’s this brilliant idea of yours

Blair: Next Saturday night when Tootie and Jason go out we’ll follow them is that a brilliant idea or what

Jo: (starts to laugh) Are you crazy blair we can’t do that

Natalie: yeah we can’t do that (pauses for a moment) besides we don’t know where their going

All three girls: (sigh and sit there for a couple moments of silence)

Blair: Wait a minute yes we do (Natalie / Jo look over at her) for the past 4 weeks Tootie and Jason have been going to the Rocking Robin Café for dinner and then to the movies

Natalie: (with a huge smile on her face she looks over at Jo, and then at Blair) Blair you are brilliant that’s perfect (turns back towards Jo) Jo what do you say

Jo: I say your just as nuts as Blair (she gets up and starts to head towards the stairs)

Natalie: Ah come on Jo it’s perfect (she gets up and goes over towards Jo, Blair gets up and walks over towards them) the movie theater will be dark, so they won’t be able to see us

Blair: right and Tootie likes to sit up in front so if we arrived a few minutes later she won’t even see us

Jo: (looks over at the girls with concern) guys I already told you to stay out of her business

Natalie: (puts her arm around Jo’s shoulder) Jo let’s face the facts here you want to know more about this Jason don’t you

Jo: (breaks away from Natalie) Nat

Natalie: Don’t you

Jo: (does a huge sigh) Ok yes I do but like I said before it needs to be Tooties decsion (she heads upstairs)

A COUPLE DAY LATER IN THE SHOP-------

Mrs. Garrett: (walks in from the kitchen carrying a tray of rolls) mmmm hot fresh baked rolls made with love

Francis: (walks up towards Mrs. Garrett) Edna your onion rolls are the best

Mrs. Garrett: (hands her one with a smile) Oh thank you Francis how’s the family

Francis: were all good Ed just got a long over due raise at work

Mrs. Garrett: good for him he’s been waiting for that raise for a long time

Francis: I’ll say (looks at her watch) Oh dear I really have to get going (she walks towards the door)

Mrs. Garrett: (walks with her opens the door for her) bye Francis I’ll see you again next week (Francis leaves and Mrs. Garrett shuts the door)

Jo: (walks in through the kitchen door just as Mrs. Garrett walks back towards the counter. Jo walks over and see’s the there’s an onion roll missing) Mrs. G I thought you made a dozen onion rolls

Mrs. Garrett: I did I just gave one to Francis

Jo: (has a look of slight anger on her face) You just gave one to Francis

Mrs. Garrett: (has a shy little smile) well Jo she’s a dear friend of mine

Jo: Mrs. G were in business to make money not to make friends

Barbara: (another customer walks over towards Jo and Mrs. Garrett)Hi Edna are those fresh baked onions rolls

Mrs. Garrett: (holds up the tray) yes have one on the house

Barbara: (takes an onion roll and begins eating it)

Jo: (quickly grabs the tray away) Mrs. Garrett if you keep this up were going to end up in the poor house

Blair: (who is over dusting the shelves quickly turns towards them) Poor house if there is one thing Blair Warner is never going to experience it’s a Poor house (she approaches them looks firmly at Barbara and holds out her hand) that will be 80 cents for the roll

Barbara: (reaches into her purse and pulls out 80 cents and hands it to Blair. Then turns to leave the shop)

Mrs. Garrett: (raising her voice) Blair I can’t believe how rude you were to Barbara just now. She’s one of my best customers

Blair: Mrs. Garrett I’m sorry but Jo’s right were in business to make money

Mrs. Garrett: (still angery) Blair this is my business and I’ll run it the way I see fit

Natalie: (comes in through the dinning room door) Mrs. Garrett are you ready to go

Mrs. Garrett: yeah just let me go put on my coat (she walks over towards the coat rack in the front of the door puts her coat on) Natalie and I are going to the supply store we should be back within a couple hours and Blair

Blair: (has a small smile on her face) Mrs. Garrett you don’t have to say a word when Barbara comes back I’ll apoligize for my behavior

Mrs. Garrett: you mean if she comes back

Blair: No I mean when people want good quality great tasting food there always gonnea come back to a place they know (takes a small deep breath) even if the help is spoiled rotton

Mrs. Garrett: (gives her a little smile to show her that she forgives her. Mrs. Garrett and Natalie leave the shop)

Blair: (goes over and sits down at a table)

Jo: (goes over back towards the counter and begins wiping it down) Blair what do you think your doing

Blair: Jo give me a break I’ve been working 4 solid hours my feet need a break

Jo: (goes over and joins Blair at the table) well that’s a good idea I could use a break too

Blair: you know it’s to bad Tootie’s not here she could wait on us

Jo: yeah well she’s not coming back until later tonight she’s babysitting the McKeon kids

Delivery Man: (carrying a box of candy walks into the shop) Hi I’ve got a delivery for Tootie Ramsey

Delivery Man: (smiles) hey thanks you girls have a nice day too (he leaves out the back door)

Blair: (she walks back towards the table) I bet these are from Jason

Jo: well whoever there from it’s none of our business

Blair: (starts opening the card) I’m just going to take a peek at the card

Jo: (trys to swipe the card back from her) Blair what are you doing that’s Tootie

Blair: (stands up before Jo can get the card back) ah come on Jo don’t tell me your not just as curious to find out more about this guy

Jo: (stands up and trys again to get the card) Blair give me that it’s private

Blair: (finally gets the card open and begins reading it Jo starts reading it over her shoulder (laughing) Hey listen to this Roses are red daisy’s are yellow I want to be your number one fellow Pookey Bear (Blair puts the card back in with the candy)

Jo: (laughs a little bit) Pookey bear

Tootie: (walks into the shop) Hi guys

Blair: (has a look of surprise on her face) Tootie what are you doing here

Tootie; I live here

Jo: (has a look of surprise on her face and in her voice) No we thought you were babysitting till 9:00 tonight

Tootie: the PTA meeting got cancelled, so I came home early

Blair: oh these just arrived for you (hands her the box of candy)

Tootie: (takes the box and reads the card) there from Jason

Jo: (has a confused look on her face) no there not there from Pookey Bear (suddenly has a nervous look on her face when she realizes her mistake)

Tootie: how’d you know this card was signed Pookey bear

Blair: (trying to act inosent) Yeah Jo how’d you know that card was signed Pookey bear

Tootie: (getting angry) I can’t believe you would read my card how could you do that to me

Jo: tootie before you blow a gasket why don’t you see what kind of candy you got

Tootie: (looking annoyed) oh alright (she opens the box and then perks up a little bit) cool nuts and chews

Blair: I hate nuts and chews

Jo: Who cares it’s not your candy

(the phone rings from the other room)

Tootie: I’ll get it (just as Tootie leaves to go into the other room, Mrs. Garrett and Natalie come inside the shop each carrying a box of supplies)

Mrs. Garrett: (she’s trying to hold up her box, but she’s having trouble) Ah Jo Blair could you give us a hand

Jo / Blair: (glance at each other then back towards Mrs. Garrett and Natalie. They start clapping and cheering)

Natalie: Very funny guys that joke’s older then Mrs. Garrett (she pauses for a moment and laughs slightly) sorry

Mrs. Garrett: let’s just go put away the supplies

Mrs. Garrett / Natalie / Jo: (head into the kitchen)

Blair: (changes the sign on the door to close and heads into the living room)

Tootie: (sitting on the couch talking on the phone) Ok I’ll see you Saturday night by Jason (she hangs up the phone just as Jo comes in the room)

Blair: (sits down on the couch) another date with Jason on Saturday night

TOOTIE: yeah (she

Blair: (puts her arm around Tootie) Ah Tootie, young Tootie I’m so glad to see that your heading down the right path in life going out on Saturday nights (pauses for a moment) just think before you know it your going to have a string of guys lined up like me

Jo: A string of guys lined up you haven’t had a date all month (sits down in the chair at the end of the couch)

Blair: (turns around and shoots a mean look) who asked for your opinion and it just so happens that I have a date with Peter on Saturday night (turns back towards Tootie) so what do you and Jason have planned for Saturday night

Tootie: nothing special just the usual were going out to dinner and then seeing the 8:00 o’clock movie.

Blair: so don’t you think it’s about time we got a chance to meet him

Jo: (has a look of warning on her face) Blair

Tootie: what do you mean?

Blair: you have been seeing Jason for over a month now, and I think it’s time we got a chance to meet him

Tootie: (looks down to the ground as if she’s searching for words after a couple seconds she looks back up at the girls) well the reason I haven’t brought Jason around here is because I know exactly how you guys are gonnea act around him

Blair: (has a look of confusion on her face) what do you mean by that?

Tootie: blair you’ll be just like my mother (jo laughs a little bit) you’ll ask him question like does he go to school does he work what does he want to do in the furture (looks over at Jo) and Jo you’ll act just like my father and say he’s not good enough for me

Jo: How can I say he’s not good enough for you I haven’t meant the bum yet

Tootie: Look you guys I don’t want to hurt your feelings (starts to raise her voice) but this is my life stay out of it (she quickly heads upstairs)

Natalie: (comes in the room just as Tootie heads upstairs) What was all the yelling about

Blair: Tootie just told us the reason why she hasn’t brought Jason aren’t here

Natalie: (sits down on the couch next to Blair) really how come

Jo: she says that were gonnea act like her parents and ask him a bunch of questions

(after a moment of silence)

Natalie: so what do you think we should do now

Blair: I say we follow them on Saturday night and find out just who this Jason person is (looks over at Jo) Jo are you with us

Jo: Blair I already told you how I feel, and you just heard Tootie just now stay out of it (Jo stands up and heads upstairs)

Natalie: you know maybe she’s right and besides don’t you have a date with Peter on Saturday night

Blair: Oh yeah that’s right and I don’t dare cancel I haven’t had a date on a Saturday night in month

Natalie: Well I’m going up to bed now good night (Natalie heads upstairs)

Blair: night Natalie (stands up and walks over towards the phone picks up the receiver) Hello Peter this is Blair I’m sorry but I’m going to have to cancel our date for Saturday night…….My grandmother’s sick and my mom asked me to come home for the weekend…..ah Thanks for being so understanding you’re the greatest….. Ok bye (hangs up the phone then heads upstairs)

AT THE MOVIE THEATERS-----

(the show still hasn’t started yet, so it’s pretty light inside, several people are talking and having there own conversation)

Tootie: (sitting down towards the front talking to Jason) I’ve loved John Travolta ever since he first did the Barbarino dance how many more minutes until the show starts

Jason: (looks at his watch) about 10 minutes do you want a soda

Tootie: root beer sounds good

Jason: Ok I’ll be right back (Jason gets up walks past Tootie and heads out the door)

Blair: (walks in just as Jason leaves, and sits down towards the back of the theater. She looks around trying to spot Tootie and Jason)

Natalie: (walks in and without realizing it she sits down right infront of Blair)

Blair: (leans over) Hi there

Natalie: (jumps up from being scared) Oh geez (she turns around to see Blair) Blair what are you doing here. I thought you had a date with Peter

Blair: well what are you doing here I thought you were going to stay home to watch a movie on cable

Natalie: Oh well I thought coming here and seeing Grease sounded much better

Blair: (pauses for a second) yeah I wanted to take a gander at Jason too

Natalie: (looks around trying to spot them) well do you see them anywhere

Blair: (looking around too) No I don’t (pauses for a second) Wait a minute there’s Tootie

Natalie: What’s she doing by herself

Blair: (sounding concerned) I don’t know maybe he stood her up

Natalie: he better not have after I spend 5 bucks to get in this place

(down towards Tootie in the row right behind her a guy stands up and walks up to her)

Peter: Hi tootie I thought I saw you

Tootie: (turns towards the isle) Peter hi. What are you doing here? I thought you had a date with Blair tonight

Peter: (looking confused) Blair told me she had to go home to visit her sick grandmother

Tootie: (looking confused) Sick grandmother? Blair’s grandmother isn’t sick

Peter: (sighs) mind if I sit down (takes a seat) I don’t believe this way would Blair lie to me

Natalie: (looks at Blair with shocked) Blair that’s Peter with Tootie

Blair: (getting angery) I can’t believe he would do that do me. How could he be so cruel as to go out with one of my best friends while my grandmother is sick

Natalie: (sounding confused) Blair your grandmother isn’t sick

Blair: (stands up) Yeah well I’m gonnea take care of this right now (she head down towards Peter and Tootie. Natalie also goes down there) Peter how could you

Tootie: Blair Natalie what are you guys doing here

Blair: I think the question here is what are you doing here with him

Peter: Blair you told me your grandmother was sick

Blair: (trying to look innocent) Don’t change the subject what are you doing here with Tootie

Natalie: Blair why don’t we go back and take our seats (she tries to get Blair to go back to there seats, but Blair refuses)

Blair: No I want to know what peter is doing here with Tootie (sounding like she’s getting upset) I mean my sweet dear grandmother is home sick in bed

Everyone in the theater: (looks over at them) YOUR GRANDMOTHER ISN’T SICK
Peter: and Blair you can relax I’m not here with Tootie were just friends

Blair: you mean you don’t have romantic feelings for her

Peter: (smiles a little) Romantic feelings for Tootie of course not

Jo: ( from the back of the theater. She’s reading a newspaper. Stands up and shouts out) WHY NOT ISN’T TOOTIE GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU (she heads down to where everybody else is)

Tootie: (sounding annoyed) JO

Blair / Natalie: (sounding confused) Jo

Blair: what are you doing here?

Natalie: yeah I thought you said you were staying out of it

Jo: Well my curiosity got the better of me

Jason: (approaches them carrying two sodas) Hi what’s going on here

Tootie: Jason

Blair: that’s Jason

Jo: (smiling) now he’s what I call a Pookey Bear

Jason: Tootie what’s going on here who are these people

Tootie: (pointing to each person) that’s Natalie, Peter, Blair, and Jo. Better known as my mother and my father

Natalie: Tootie were really sorry about all this

Blair: Yeah we only had your best interest at heart

Tootie: (looking very annoyed) Jason suddenly I’m not in the mood for a movie would you mind if we just skip the show

Jason: No not at all (Jason and Tootie go out in the isle)

Jo: Jason were really sorry about all this. Is there anything we can do to make up for it

Blair: how about coming into the shop on Monday and getting some free pasta salad

Natalie: (looks over at Jo who doesn’t look to happy about giving away free pasta salad) Jo it’s the least we can do after all this

Jo: Yeah I guess you right. The money can come out of Blair’s paycheck

Blair: why should it come out of my paycheck

Jo: you started this whole thing if you would of just minded your own business none of this of this would of happened

Everyone: (walks up the isle. Arguing as they head on out)

Back at the house up in the girls room------

(Natalie / Jo / blair are all sitting on there beds ready for bed)

Jo: So what did Peter have to say about all this

Blair: Well after I explained everything to him. He said that he understood

Natalie; Oh that’s great Blair so are you going to see him again

Blair: No he also said he never my lying ugly face again

Jo / Natalie: (laugh a little bit)

Natalie: sorry Blair

Blair: (smiles a little bit) that’s ok I guess I desvered it

Tootie: (comes out of the restroom ready for bed)

Natalie: Tootie were really……

Tootie: I know your really sorry Natalie (she goes over and sits down on her bed) you’ve been apologizing since I got home tonight

Jo: Tootie do Blair and I really act that over protective of you

Tootie: No I guess not

Blair: Then I don’t get it why didn’t you want us to meet Jason

Tootie: It’s because I’m the youngest

Jo: (looks at her with confusion) Are you just now figuring that out

Tootie: (laughs a little bit) and because I’m the youngest I sometimes feel that you guys make a big deal about everything I go through

Natalie: Tootie we didn’t mean to make you feel bad

Tootie: Oh you didn’t (sighs) it’s just that no matter where I go I’m always gonnea be the youngest and that’s something I can’t change, but I think you guys need to learn to respect the fact that I’m getting old now and I don’t always need your protection

Jo: I can respect that Tootie

Blair: Yeah me too and I promise I won’t spy on any more of your dates

Tootie: Thanks Blair

Blair: I’ll just hire a Private Dectective

Jo / Natalie / Tootie: (raising there voices) BLAIR

Blair: I’m only kidding (she lays down in her bed)

Tootie: (gets up to turn out the lights then goes back into bed)

Blair: Night everyone sleep tight

Natalie: night guys

Tootie: night Natalie good night mom and dad

Jo: (sounding everyone) alright already good night
