Oh No I'm a little miffed with my brother-in-law!

I dunno where to put this since it's kind of a religious post, so feel free to move it if it doesn't belong here.

My brother-in-law angered my dad...in-laws!...But it's how he said it...there was something about having five people, dead or alive, that you want to have at a dinner party...or something like that. Someone said Jesus, then he said Homer Simpson because it's for REAL people and to him Jesus is fiction like Superman...NO!...Jesus IS a real person...He IS The Lord! That's How I Feel!

I don't care if people say Jesus was a man, because they know he did exist yet denies He's Lord...but saying Jesus is as fictional as Bugs Bunny or Santa Claus is just...below the belt!

I don't mind that It'd be used as satire, but using it in real life? I don't believe that my Brother-In-Law would swoop that low!

What should I do? Pray For Him? Tell Him To Keep Your Opinions To Yourself? Or Not Let My Dad Talk To Him Since It's Like A Archie Bunker vs. Mike Stivic Argument?

How would you like to be told to keep your opinions to yourself? Your brother in law has every right to express his opinions as much as you do. Whether you agree with him or not is up to you.

Surely your dad is old enough to make his own decisions.

He is...

...and don't get me wrong, I'm for free speech and opinions...I just don't like how some people out there would say "my opinions matter and yours don't"! (Now this is where I'll go political)! That's why I dislike Trump, what he says practically goes and no one else opinions matter!

Some people think their **** smells perfect...and sometimes I feel my brother-in-law acts that way!

Some people just act that way. I'm friends with some who are, but you just have to remember that they're just as entitled to their opinion as you are to yours. If you don't like him/what he says that much, I'd just say the best thing would be if you talk to him, don't bring it up, or if he does first, try to curb the conversation so you avoid it.

I agree with you Mr. Cleveland! I think what he said was very out of line! Esp. in a Religious family like yours!

If this sort of thing is coming up on a regular basis, you need to confront him on it and explain that his behavior is unacceptable. I don't mean make a big deal about it, but you should talk to him and let him know that he's hurting you and your family.

People are free to believe what they want, and in fact Christianity itself is tolerant of opposing beliefs. But it's clear that your brother-in-law was not interested in a civilized discussion and was instead being mean and insensitive to your family's beliefs.

Sorry you are dealing with that. I hate to stereotype but I have found many atheists are like that. Tell him that Jesus did exist and there is proof. Where many get confused is that some of the stories in the bible were likely made up and some of the people didn't exist but Jesus did.

There's even some atheists that say "Jesus was a great man...but only a man"... I can tolerate that!
Most Jews say that Jesus wasn't the Messiah, but a Prophet..Islams say the same thing.
Hindus say Jesus was an incarnation of Brahma, who was once Buddha. Speaking of...
Buddhists would say He's a Bodhisattva...like Buddha.

I do respect these opinions since they seem open to Jesus being on Earth, but saying "Jesus is like a $3 bill"... don't say that to me...I'll just walk away from you!
