Ariana Grande Visits Fans in U.K. Hospital Ahead of Benefit Concert
by Melody Chiu and Char Adams
June 2, 2017

Ariana Grande is back in the U.K. for a star-studded charity concert to benefit the victims of the May 22 attack in Manchester.

On Friday night, the star visited the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, where many of her young fans are being treated.

Adam Harrison and Lauren Thorpe, who were injured in the blast along with their 8-year-old daughter Lily, shared photos of their little girl embracing Grande.

All we can do is thank Ariana,” Thorpe tells PEOPLE.

Adds Harrison, “What Ariana Grande did tonight was so selfless and amazing … Lily looked on cloud nine.

Sharing photos of Grande embracing his daughter Jaden, Peter Mann wrote on his Facebook page:

This means more to us than all the amazing things people have done this week. when your daughter asks after her 2nd operation is ariana ok? so happy she came i could burst! Never seen jaden so happy! even cried again myself.

Mom Sharon told the Manchester Evening News:

Jaden was just sitting there watching TV and she walked in. She was absolutely amazed! It was a complete surprise. She has a big smile anyway but it got even bigger, Ariana gave her a hug and a kiss, she was in awe. It was absolutely fantastic to see, she was so happy.

All proceeds from the concert, which takes place at the Emirates Old Trafford stadium in the city, are going to the Red Cross’s Manchester Emergency Fund. The show is expected to bring in around $2.6 million.

The concert will feature big names like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Usher, Little Mix, Miley Cyrus and more. It sold out in just six minutes, organizers said.

The concert will air live on Freeform at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday. A “one-hour highlight special” will later air on ABC following the NBA Finals. BBC, the host broadcaster, is producing TV coverage.

It will also be live-streamed on the main Twitter site as well as on Grande’s YouTube and Facebook pages.

Another attack by these subhuman savages in London. We can't surrender civilization to these savages or pretend we don't know who's doing this, like the mayor of London does.

Manchester Terror Attack Victim's Families Receiving $324,000 Each from Charity
by Jordan Runtagh
August 15, 2017

The families of the 22 individuals killed in a terror attack at Ariana Grande‘s Manchester concert on May 22 will each receive $324,000 from the We Love Manchester Fund. The charitable foundation has already topped more than $23 million in donations from members of the public.

Councilor Sue Murphy announced the figure on Tuesday. “The city and the world responded with such extreme kindness, generosity and solidarity in the aftermath of the Manchester Arena attack,” she told The Guardian.

We will now spend some time looking at how we will distribute the rest of the funds. This will be a complex and sensitive process as we will need to assess the long-term impacts of the attack.

The money will be given to the individual listed as the next of kin of the deceased, but other arrangements will be made in extenuating circumstance such as divorce. In one particularly tragic case, 12-year-old Patrycia Klis and her 20-year-old sister Alex will receive $748,000 after losing both parents in the wake of the attacks.

In addition to those grieving loved ones, the 57 individuals who spent more than a week in the hospital have been given $77,150 each so far, and 96 people who spent between one night and seven days in the hospital have been given $4,500.

The money is given as a gift, so it’s up to them what they do with it,” Murphy says.

Grande organized a star-studded charity concert in June, featuring performances from Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Chris Martin, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Manchester native Liam Gallagher, among many others.

The show raised over $13 million.
