I have dealt with boredom all my life.
I once heard that boredom is a form of depression.

Also I once heard that boredom is a sign of genius since geniuses need to do things that challenge them .

I get bored really fast when I'm on other forums. Those forums are dead and nothing but ghost towns because hardly anyone is even on a good majority of the time.

That may be true for some people but I see them as separate entities. Boredom I think is more a result of external circumstances.

In other news, I'm still bored...

I have been told that there is such a thing as situational depression in which a lot of external factors cause a person to be depressed such as loss of a job, death of a loved one, illness, etc. Of course, some people have clinical depression in which they feel sad and lonesome and bored and dreadful even if no one they loved died, or if they are not physically in pain , or if they have no need to worry about losing their home or going hungry etc.

You're right, situational depression is a very real thing, and this is chiefly caused by external factors. Clinical depression is what I was thinking of earlier, which results more from internal struggles, rather than what you would normally assume is sad or painful. Depression comes in all forms.
