Question Having to provide your driver's license # state id # to go to a wedding. Strange?

Have you ever heard of having to provide your driver's license number (or state id number) on the card when RSVP'ing a wedding invitation?

I would think it would be ok to check licenses/id's at the event, but to require the number seems like personal information. I've been invited to my niece (my sister-in-law's daughter)'s wedding.

I've been to 4 weddings in my lifetime. I never had to do this in the past.
I attended my mother's second wedding and then her third wedding. I attended my brother's second wedding. I also attended friend's wedding years ago.

Is the wedding taking place on a military base? I googled and found out that type of information is required there to enter.

Thanks for looking that up.
I looked at the invitation again and it did say something about "on base."
I guess my brother's active military duty status makes it possible for my niece to have it on base.

If I'm able to attend (finances....) I will need to write my state id # on the back of the rsvp card as it states. Then mail it off.
