Does anyone remember the 70s game show "Name That Tune", I always thought that was a unique concept for a game show. It got really competitive as the contestants would try to name a tune with the lowest number of notes being played. Do you think that type a show would survive among today's game shows?

Actaully, I've heard that, at last check, PHil Gurin (The Weakest Link, some GSN originals) had got a lease on the format from Sandy Frank (rights holder), and that they're working on a new version for NBC due in a couple years.
Of course, whether that's changed, I don't know...

They actually have something similar to Name That Tune on VH-1 I believe they are still playing it, I haven't seen it in awhile. They have 3 rounds total. In the first round, 3 contestants try to guess the name of a song 3 different way. They have a catagory with the lyrics to a song, they have a catagory of where they show part of a music video, and the third one is something to do with a picture, but I don't remember now what.
Anyway, the part that sorta makes it like Name That Tune is round 2 when there are only 2 contestants. They bid against each other to see who can name the video in the fewest number of seconds. Just wanted to let y'all know ![]() D

Yeah, that was really fun show to watch.I believe Kathy Lee Gifford
when she was still single was the singer on one version of the show. Name That Tune was also Stanley Roper's favorite program after according to Helen Roper he got The Star Spangled Banner in seven notes!LOL!!!! ![]() |

i LOVE name that tune! i remember when i was in preschool, i'd watch it when i got home. mind you, i'm 18...i really really loved that show...enough that i remember watching it and playing along with it every day. didn't they have a handheld version of it or something? i saw an ad on NBC.com that said "name that tune" and got really excited...but it was for their holiday CD or something...it made me sad.

I remember that game show back when I was a little kid as the "$100,000 Name That Tune".
