The story that M Emmett Walsh tells in Raising Arizona about Bill Parker...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaNSqwZieKM

The same story, and same name is told by Dan Hick's character in the 1989 slasher Intruder.

Scott Spiegel, writer/director of Intruder had told the Coen Bros the story as it was based on something that happened to his real life friend. The Coens liked it so much they wrote it into Raising Arizona.

The female character Bobby Joe from Evil Dead II was inspired by, and written for Holly Hunter. Sam Raimi, along with Joel Coen, and Frances McDormand, were renting a house with a then struggling actress Holly Hunter. Sam was enamored by her and wanted her for the part. But producer Rob Tapert wanted someone sexier.

Canyon Falls and Gorge in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, affectionally called “The Grand Canyon of Michigan.” At its widest point, the gorge is a mile wide and more than 300 feet deep.
