DYK... Ketchup isn't used in France since their opinion of it is that it ruins the food!

Here's a good DYK for MLK Day...

Martin Luther King's given name was Michael King. His father changed his name as well as his when they visited Nazi Germany for a Baptist Convention in 1934, they were both named after the reformer Martin Luther.

Another MLK DYK...He was part of the choir at the primers of Gone with the Wind in Atlanta.

DYK about Japanese raindrop cake, or mizu shingen mocha? Its supposedly a variant of rice cake, originally made with pristine water from the Japanese Alps and solidified using granulated sugar, agar (a jelly like substance), and soybean powder. It's called a cake but it really isn't a cake at all. It's a translucent gelatin, that resembles a raindrop, served with a topping on one
side and syrup, on the other. It's now being served in US restaurants.

DYK that this is how the logo would look if Larry Page and Sergey Brin had been better at spellin' ? Of course, there's a real big number of reason$ why this probably doesn't bother them very much.

Actually, not everyone did. The vast majority of those involved did get cancer but not all of them

Any who.... Did You Know that Clark Gable , before he was famous , was a sex slave to major film star William Bendix?

Yes, there were a lot of people including many behind the scenes people(grips, cameramen, etc.) who got cancer in different forms. But to add to this story for the interior shots/footage filmed in the studio the sand from the nuclear site was trucked into Hollywood and put into the sets!

Here's a DYK for today, since it's Inauguration Day...

The Inauguration was moved from March 4th to January 20th because of Herbert Hoover! It's also the 20th Amendment!

Okay... But then I wonder why it was changed.

The 20th amendment was also called the "Lame duck" amendment, "lame duck" referring to members of congress (or the president) who are officially on their way out (following the election) but are still in office. They may have lost the election or their term limit could be up. Having the transfer happen in January rather than March reduced the time for them to just sit around awkwardly knowing their days are numbered.

Did you know that if you hold in your poop, your intestines can rupture , leading to a serious infection of the abdomen (peritonitis) and bloodstream (sepsis)?

DYK, That the President's Limo, called "The Beast", not only has tear gas
canisters, shotgun and other firepower, and grenade launchers, it, always
has 2 pints of blood of the President's blood type.
Also, it has its own airplane. The Secret Service makes use of a C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft to haul The Beast, a second limo and a heavily armored Chevrolet Suburban communications vehicle, any time the President is traveling. The Suburban is nicknamed Roadrunner and it is said to be a rolling communications office directly linked to a military satellite - hence the SATCOM dome festooned to its roof.
"The Beast", also, has many capabilities that are never disclosed. I wouldn't
be surprised if it could fly or convert to some type of boat.
