HAL 9000 was a computer in the sci-fi movie classic "2001: A SPACE ODDYSSEY" for those who don't know.

DYK . . that the pension for former US presidents is $205,700 per year. The pension starts the minute the president officially leaves office at noon on Inauguration Day. Widows of former presidents are provided with a $20,000 annual lifetime pension and mailing privileges unless they choose to waive their right to the pension. The salary is set annually by Congress.

Former presidents and their spouses receive Secret Service protection for their lifetimes. Protection for the spouses of former presidents terminates in the event of remarriage. Children of former presidents receive protection until they reach age 16.

DYK . . that all new cars will include backup cameras by May 2018.
Addition of cameras likely to add $40 to $140 to the price of a new car.

John also played accordion and there's a rumor out there somewhere that he may have also played piano as well, but not entirely sure though.

Also, Markie Post is a pianist too.

DYK that . . . Chester Arthur, 21st US president, was James Garfield's vice president. When Garfield died, Arthur became the President, but there was no mechanism at the time for filling a VP vacancy, so Arthur served without a VP for his 4 year term.

Here's a DYK...

The full name of the piano is "un cimbalo di cipresso di piano e forte" meaning in English...a keyboard of cypress with soft and loud. Eventually...it got the name piano.

leader. Also Dwight Eisenhower became a cheerleader, in college after a
football injury.

Novelist Nathaniel Hawthorne(born in Salem, Mass.1804-1864) ancestors include John Hathorne, the only judge involved in the Salem witch trials who never repented of his actions. Nathaniel later added a "w" to make his name "Hawthorne" in order to hide this relation.

I don't blame him!

DYK . about the “Neck Trick”: A quick way to see if jeans fit without trying them on. Place the waistline of the jeans around your neck. If the waistline comfortably meets at the back of your neck, then the jeans will fit.

And if you're seen doing this at a store, you might find out if the white jacket that ties at the back fits too.
