Cool

I had the follow-up w/ my surgeon this afternoon. Everything is looking good. The scars are healing fine and I am off my pain meds.

Now I have to see another dept. (gastrointestinal) for the stent removal and I'll be calling them tomorrow.

That is certainly good news. I actually know of someone who also had a gallbladder removed. It was was 2-3 weeks ago. He is tired a lot and coughing. Going to his doc for another follow-up appointment tomorrow.

I'm not an expert, but I believe that your general health and age plays a huge part in how quickly you bounce back after surgery. Someone with other health issues (diabetic, heart disease, bad lungs...) may not recover as quickly as someone w/o those issues.

Everyone I have spoken to around my age and a little bit younger who've had their gallbladders taken out were all outpatient w/ quick recoveries. I was surprised at the amount of people I learned of who had it taken out. It's more than people realize.

I wish the person you know the best in his recovery.

Here's the latest...

My follow-ups with the surgeon went great and he said that I'm healing well. My scars are now barely noticeable. I have 3 red scratches on my chest and side about maybe half-inch long. They had to shave my chest before the surgery (only the spots where they operated) and now they are stubble and itching like crazy. Around the summer, I'm going to shave my chest completely so that it grows back evenly to fix these patches. I want to wait a while before taking a razor blade to my skin.

I have one more thing to take care of. When I was in the hospital back in October they had to insert a stent into my bile duct to help with the flowing. The surgeon couldn't remove it during the operation as that's a separate procedure done w/ endoscope. The problem now is that I'm an outpatient and the doctor who did that other procedure doesn't accept my insurance and he hasn't been returning my calls. I've called his office about 4x since my last follow-up and his nurses go, "He'll get back to you." ugh...

I was told that I can gradually go back to my normal diet, but I'm sticking to my low-fat diet for now until I am completely done with everything.

I had the stent taken out this morning. Procedure went well. I have to be on a soft diet for a couple of days, drink lots of fluids, and take antibiotics for about a week.

I'm officially done with everything (provided I have no complications from this procedure).

That's wonderful James I am very happy that everything is going great for you. I also had to eat soft food too but I wasn't allowed to drink soda for a few days after my operation and I had to drink juice especially grape juice a lot but what I can recommend for you to eat is a delicious bowl of ramen noodles without the seasoning in the broth and it is very tasty to eat and some Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup is great for you too. Did you try to drink the Kern's Mango Nectar I recommended to you? It's a great juice to drink to help you with recovery from stomach pains
Hope you have a good day and be strong James

I'm glad all of the insanity is finally behind you. I can't believe how much you went through with the waiting and all of the procedures to finally get everything handled properly.
