I hope you are somehow doing a little bit better today Paul, you and your father continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

God Bless.

I am so sorry for your loss. My mother died at the same age, also in her sleep, so I understand how you feel. My mother had a blood clot that went to her lungs and stopped her breathing. My oldest brother died the same way, but he was awake when it happened.

Sorry for your losses FD...

She even looked healthy on the outside, but she did have some swelling in her foot. She was also hesitant to see a doctor due to being uninsured...but if she did see a doctor...it would've been a split chance either way...

Icon15 240+ people came to my mom's memorial service!

Last night, we had a memorial service for my mom. I made a Jezebel dip and pizza dip in honor of my own mom... she'd make these dips story any party.

We had 240+ people show up!

That is a lovely way to honor your mother, Paul. She would be very proud of you I am sure for carrying on her traditions. I try to incorporate my late father's favorite sayings in conversation as a way of keeping him close to me. I hope you and you and your father are feeling a little better today, but its a long process to get through. Especially when its so sudden and unexpected.

Your mother must have been very loved to have that number of guests at her memorial. What a tribute to her memory.

On the lighter side, I am curious what are the ingredients in "Jezebel dip"? It sounds delicious and spicy!...

1 jar of Apple jelly
1 jar of pineapple preserves
1 cup of white wine (optional)
1/4 bottle of Dijon mustard
1/3 jar of prepared horseradish
Crushed red pepper flakes

Combine all ingredients into a crock pot. For the red pepper flakes, add a small amount like 1/8 of a teaspoon or 1/4 of a teaspoon. Have the sauce Chill for at least 30 minutes. You can serve it on cream cheese and crackers or it can be used as a ham glaze or on chicken wings.

Sounds yummy!

I am going to make that for my next family gathering.

Thanks so much for writing all of that out for me, Paul...

Not a prob...

When I made that and the pizza dip...it was a hit!

And when I go, I want my funeral reception food to be nothing but dips.

Thanks...

...and here's a few songs I want played at the reception...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7U7XtYeq8c
...only because the band across the street at my church named St. Ignatius HAD their band practice during my mom's memorial service... complete disrespect! So if I go when they have their practice... I want the people in the hall to play this song loud! I won't give a damn if my pastor has to pause my memorial service...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SoU4qzZlcw
...maybe this could be played during the memorial service...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWFMgkxn94c
If someone made a soundtrack for my funeral...this should be played after "Nearer my God to Thee".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Bre3HF8_Vw

I know I shouldn't talk about my departure from earth, but as in the words of 1st Thessalonians 5:2...

...for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

240 people? That is a lot paying their respects. Impressive.

My funeral will have wall to wall pizza. Chocolate, too.

Thanks for all the condolences...

...but now I'm getting calls every day from my dad asking if I'm still doing okay... I don't want to sound shallow, but...will I be getting calls from my dad every day for the rest of the year?

But...my dad is glad that me and my sister are getting along through this dark time. But he worries about my brother. He's still with Yoko and no one knows what to do about her...
