I prefer to look at it as a best or worst case scenario. There have been several teams that ended the season with loss or win totals in the 40's. On the positive side, Seattle went 116-46 in 2001. On the negative side, New York Mets went 40-120 in 1962. So yes it does happen. Maybe not often, but it does happen.

I'm convinced that the 1979 A's would have won only about 40 games if not for Rickey Henderson joining the team that year after the all star break. Henderson brought talent and energy to an abysmal/atrocious A's team, he alone was responsible for several of the A's wins after he joined the roster.

I was kinda worried when the Mariners won 116. I didn't want them to break the Cubs record for most wins in a season. It worked out though Lou Pinella became the Cubs manager and led them to back to back division titles.

Rangers boot the Cubs out of the leading position of this current MLB season.

These are the Top 6 leading MLB teams so far:

1.) Texas Rangers
2.) San Francisco Giants
3.) Chicago Cubs
4.) Baltimore Orioles
5.) Cleveland Indians
6.) Washington Nationals

Well the way the Cubs have been playing lately they're lucky to be in the Top 6. Hopefully can turn it around in Cincinnati tomorrow.

Cubs finally won a game. Almost forgot they knew how to do that. I'll be watching the All-Star game this year with a Cubs dominated infield.

As the Pennant race heats up in MLB in the last few weeks one thing is for certain my beloved Chicago Cubs are representing the NL Central, the Washington Nationals in the NL East, Cleveland Indians in the AL Central. Who else????

Remember this complaining in the middle of what is most assuredly a 100+ win season?

Definitely Texas (9.5 game lead in AL West), and probably the stupid Red Sux. The rest might be too close to call. (Dodgers should at least be a wild card).

Well that month of July was brutal. I thought for sure the Cubs were going to have problems. A 22-6 August rectified that real quick a 100 wins obviously in reach now. I really don't care one way or the other 11 wins in October mean more to me than 100+ in September.

That's the correct thinking. That type of stuff always reminds me of 2001, when Seattle won 116 games, but the Yankees took them down in the playoffs.
