Default Cindy Williams on Carson Sunday Night -- From 1974???

Antenna TV has the following in its listing for Johnny Carson tomorrow night (Sunday, April 3, 2016):

(First Aired: May. 1, 1974)
Musician Buddy Rich; actor Gabe Kaplan; actress Cindy Williams; performer Kreskin; Don Ashworth.

Is this the SAME Cindy Williams? I know she had been in a few movies and TV shows by that point, including American Graffiti, but she was well known enough to be a guest on The Tonight Show???

Yeah, she had been in American Graffiti the year before, so was certainly known enough by then. She was in The Conversation, which came out around then so maybe she was promoting it. Also, you look at the other guests, and it's kind of screaming the need for a cute young girl.

Gabe Kaplan wouldn't have been that popular in 1974 either I don't think? Didn't he become well known when Welcome back Kotter started in 1975?

Funny they are advertising him on the Tonight Show as an actor. I figured he would be listed as a stand up comic?

Kaplan got really popular, before Kotter, on Tonight and other talk shows. The material was largely sweathog stuff that eventually turned into Kotter. Not quite as intense a rise as Freddie Prinz, but a similar story.

Yeah, I remember him a little bit from the Talk show circuit !! Did he do any acting before Kotter though? I always thought he was a stand up comic and Kotter was his first acting gig?

I don't recall Kaplan acting before Kotter.

Anger issues? That comment was unnecessary.

Well, you've got a point there. I know she was in a handful of movies, I just didn't think she was a "name" yet. I'm not familiar with The Conversation.
