Ballet dancer Kathryn Boren - with and without her stage makeup. I prefer the "without" picture.

No fame or notoriety in this portrait. Just a woman captured in her daily life, smiling at us from 1910, Seattle, Washington. Isn't she lovely?

It looks like it could have been taken yesterday.

Yes, she looks very contemporary. My grandmother was born in 1910. So her mother, (my great grandmother) would have been about this girls age (or older). I've seen photographs of my relatives from the early 1900's and none of them looked as beautiful and natural as this girl. I just love that picture!

Angharad Rees (1944 - 2012). Eleanor Tomlinson is very good in the new "Poldark" series, but Rees will always be for me THE Demelza (1975 - 1977).

Post silent era film star Maude Fealy is seen here in a portrait that somehow doesn't feel dated at all.

i haven't seen the original Poldark. Sadly Miss Rees died from pancreatic cancer. I am eagerly awaiting season 3 on Masterpiece. For me, Aiden Turner IS Poldark
