Cool Does Yabba Dabba Doo have a meaning?

I have watched the Flintsones for 30 something years, and have never figured out what Yabba Dabba Doo means.

My only guess is that it is a phrase that it used to express joy.

If anyone knows the meaning to this phrase let me know.

That's always been my assumption. It's like "Yippee" or "Hooray," etc.

I dunno if the creators had a particular definition though.

Well, according to a little tune Fred hummed from time to time (In one episoed he sang it as lullabye to Pebbles)...

"Yabba Dabba Doo means I Love You."

But I believe "Yabba Dabba Doo" has multiple meanings, like "Dude."

I remember reading once that the original line on the script was "yahoo" but the actor (can't remember his name) said it as Yaba Daba Doo, and it sounded so good it became reguler.

Alan Reed, the original voice of Fred Flintstone, first uttered the famous "yabba-dabba-doo" in the episode "The Flintstone Flyer", the first episode broadcast 30 September 1960. (originally, the line read "Yahoo", but Reed asked Joe Barbera if he could change it to something with alittle more "pop" to it...and the rest is history.)
