Default Who are the GEMS?

This may have been answered before, but....
Been watching a lot of Happy Days lately and in the early ones Ralph always wears that red jacket with "GEMS" on the back. I have never seen anyone else ever wear a jacket like that unitl yesterday. Was Ralph ever in a gang? I've heard of the Demons, Dragons, Falcons, Dukes, Magnets and Assorted Nuts, but never the GEMS. Oddly enough, in the episode I saw someone else wearing the jacket it was worn by the actor Mickey Wheatley that was discussed in this thread. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/...d.php?t=309806 The episode was the one where we first meet Sticks (Fonzie's new friend). It was season three.

Since then, I have seen others wearing the GEMS jacket here and there.

cgcmgr is RIGHT!

What did GEMS on these red jackets stand for? They never actually said it ever that I can recall as well? I'm guessing they were like a car or cruiser club or something? Not a gang for certain. Very 1st episode Ralph was hanging with some other Gems jacket friends and Ralph talked a lot about cars and had that hot rod so I'm guessing? Ralph wore that red jackets sometimes, but not all the time.
