My wife just saw a rerun on Lifetime today at 12 noon eastern. It featured a capture of a man named John J. Irwin in a Dallas, TX motel. It seems he was wanted for embezzelment, fraud and something to do with the death of his mother.. Can anyone give me the date of this episode? I think I am currently working for this guy and need to find out if it is the same guy. Thanks for your help.

Why don't you just call Unsolved Mysteries? (the 800 number) Perhaps after talking with them you can determine if you do work for Mr. Irwin.

What do you mean the date of the episode? It probably originally aired in 1996-1997 or earlier. Was the guy really captured? The update I remember is of him acting goofy in this home video. He probably did not serve much time and was released within a few years.
In other words, he's probably not a wanted fugitive. |

The segment first aired during the early 1990's, either during the 1990-91 season or sometime early in the 1991-92 season. |

I know he is not wanted at this time. I have confirmed that it is the same guy. He did time in three state prisons and at least one on the federal side. I appreciate evryone's help. I am working for this guy and am now looking very hard for another job.

I have the update with the home movie as airing as 03/20/91 so late 1990 or early 1991 for the original segment sounds correct. Kane, you continue to amaze me with your knowledge of when segments aired.
For the record, the segment was updated at the end: After our follow-up progress report, an anonymous tip led FBI agents to a Dallas motel where they took John Irwin into custody. Irwin served time in several states on fraud and embezzlement charges and has been released from parole. He has never been charged for any crime in connection with the death of his mother, and he continues to maintain his innocence. |

Why, thank you very much for pointing that out, TJ. ![]() Somehow, I was right about the John Irwin case airing around 1990 or 1991. While, I generally have a good memory on which seasons certain cases were featured, I don't always know the exact date. Again, thank you very much. ![]() |
