I don't think it had cocaine in it the 1970s.

If true, it was much earlier than that, like around 1910.

Not as much as I used to...and if it is, it's diet pop or something to keep me awake when coffee won't work.

Wow, thanks for the great response to my question and poll! Really appreciate it, everyone.

For those of you who drink multiple cans/bottles a day, why do you do this? Is it, as Mr. Cleveland says, a matter of staying awake? Is it out of habit? To quench thirst? Purely for taste? Just curious!

I don't drink any soda. Too bubbly and I know there is so much sugar in drinks. I try not to eat any sugar or artifical sugar in any liquid drink.

Exactly with me as well . Only diet Coke now and than, and that is for a caffeine boost, to perk me up if coffee isn't available or the weather is too hot for coffee!

I rarely drink any soda anymore. Maybe a glass if I go out to a restaurant.

I drank a lot of pop as a kid; and as an adult I'd average one per day till I get into my thirties.

About age 35 or so, I started having stomach issues and the doctor said to lay off the pop. I did, and it helped. I still drank one maybe once a week. Then I read up on how awful it is for you, sugar, carbonation, preservatives, acid (I also have acid reflux), and just pretty much never went back.

Now, it's like you said, maybe one when I go to a movie, maybe one on a holiday or something, but that's about it.

Congrats on kicking the habit, Sonny!
