Question Should the major networks bring back the "Family Hour"?

Do you think the major networks should be forced to air only family-friendly prgramming between the hours of 8 and 9:30 PM?

While I do think the major networks should put on a few more family-friendly shows, I do not think that all the networks should be required to air only family-friendly programming. A lot of people, including myself, don't have young kids and should be able to watch shows like Friends and The Simpsons at 8 PM (Eastern time). I'm sick of parents who think TV should cater to their needs all the time. Stop using the boob tube as a baby-sitter!

Talking FAMILY PROGRAMMING

Yeah I think they should. All today's sitcoms are just trash with a swear word in every sentence.

But not like the family shows like on Disney or Fox Family.....

Heres the layout for those Disney and Fox Family shows

1 really weird mom and 1 really weird dad
1 pesky brother or sister
2 friends
Unpopular
Always has a crush on this person at school
WHO IS GOING OUT WITH THE BULLY that picks on the main character.
Become popular and win their crush at the end of the show/movie.

See for those shows, they are so predictable. Create a show like Alice or Day by Day or something!

Please look at MY topic please!

In a way, yes, but you do have a point about people without "families".

In today's day and age familes are very different from 50's,60's,70's familes.Today's familes don't eat together but instead eat wherever and whenever they want.Kids hardly ever get grounded,Kids get what they want all the time so I say no.We don't need Donna Reed in 02!

They shouldn't be required to.....Not many people would watch them with all these other kids networks. On major networks today its not family hour, its Happy Hour.

Maybe that's what's wrong with this country today?
(not that I think the networks should be forced to do anything, the less governement is involved the better)

But I do think we need more family values, if not "family hour" on TV.

I think they should bring it back, at least on Fridays like ABC did until recently with TGIF. What's wrong with bubblegum? I like it. And family shows can be good, they don't have to be like "The Donna Reed Show", infact no such show has been like "The Donna Reed Show" since the show went off the air in 1966-after all, there IS only one Donna Reed. An example of a good family show is "My Wife & Kids". It gets good ratings, good humor (IMO), and is yet also a 'family' sitcom. I think it should be from 8-9 PM tho, 9-10 PM for those single shows such as "Friends", and from 10-11 PM are those dramas. True, not everyone has families, but not everyone is single. And some people don't have cable, all they have are FOX, ABC, UPN, NBC, & CBS (And some the WB, in some areas it's only carried on cable)

Thumbs up

For me personally I say bring it back.

I have children so I would like to sit with them and enjoy family evening TV time.
