Ch 5:

Patsy made the call to Chachi's house as instructed. He was on his way over to the firm when he got the call about Fred's suicide note.

"Fred is my cousin, Patsy. I don't know him very well to do this kind of thing, but I'll go over to Kylie's house right away to look at that note," Chachi said.

"She'll probably let you look at that note," Patsy said as they got off the phone.

By the time Chachi arrived at the house, he found Daphne and her family there, along with Heather, and Claudia and her family as well. Kylie let someone answer Chachi's ring.

Hank was at the door this time, thinking it was the police with some news. It turned out to be Chachi.

"Hello, Chachi. Come in," Hank told him.

"Thanks, Hank. I just heard about Fred. We're cousins, so may I speak to Kylie?" Chachi asked.

"In the kitchen."

"Kylie, Chachi's here," Hank said.

"Hi, Uncle Chachi," Kylie said, with tears in her eyes.

They were really red. Chachi did see the red in her eyes from all the crying she'd done.

"Patsy told me that Fred left a note. May I see it?" he asked.

She handed him Fred's note. He read it about three times.

"Where do you think he went off to?" Chachi asked.

"I don't know any details. I was probably asleep when he left."

"Let me go call Fonzie and tell him about this. He's family, you know," Chachi said.

"He's a cousin as well. He has a right to know," Kylie told Chachi.

She let him use the phone and call Fonzie. Fonzie was about to visit Richie at the newspaper when Chachi called, so he called at the wrong time.

"Good thing I caught you, Fonzie," Chachi said.

"What do you mean by that, Chachi?" Fonzie asked his cousin.

"I thought you should know that a cousin of ours committed suicide," Chachi said.

"Which Fred did that?" Fonzie wanted to know.

He wanted details.

"The Fred we don't know very well. The shy one."

"That one. What about the Fred we talk to? What happened to him?" Fonzie asked.

"Died in a coma Sunday night. The obit is in the papers," Chachi said.

"Darn!" Fonzie said, not liking this kind of news.

"Please come over now, Fonzie. The whole family is over at Kylie Jones'."

"I'll be over there in a few minutes, Chachi. I know the address, but I want to say hello to Richie."

"All right, Fonzie. Please tell Richie about the suicide. Fred left a suicide note!" Chachi said.

"That ain't good, Chachi. Show it to me when I get over there," Fonzie said, getting interested in Fred's note that he left behind.

They got off the phone.
