Exclamation Shocking News! 'Whitney' Has Been Renewed For A 2nd Season!

Whitney now has also been officially picked up. The order for Parks & Rec is for a full-season 22 episodes. No definitive word on the size of the orders for the two freshmen shows yet, but they may be for 13 episodes in line with Community.

This is terrific (and yes, very shocking!) news! The show improved so much, and it definitely deserves another season. Even if it is a short season, I definitely did not expect to see the word "renew" associated with Whitney at all.

Cool ‘Whitney’s Renewal Hits Milestone For Multi-Camera Sitcoms

Whitney‘s renewal today was a big victory for the freshman NBC sitcom, which had been in serious danger of cancellation. But it also represents a major feat for the multi-camera genre.

This is the first time a freshman multi-camera comedy has made it to Season 2 in four years, since CBS’ Big Bang Theory was renewed in 2008. For a multi-camera sitcom outside of the format’s traditional home, CBS, this marks the first time such a comedy has been renewed in five years, since ‘Til Death was awarded a second season on Fox in 2007. What’s more, we could have two freshman sitcoms accomplishing that this year as ABC’s Last Men Standing is awaiting a renewal too.

That'll make my dad happy - he's got a thing for that Whitney girl.

It's not that shocking, the numbers weren't all that bad. I think the show's awful but since all of my favorite NBC comedies got renewed...oh well!

Huh? That's not true at all. Mike & Molly got a 2nd season last year and 2 Broke Girls got one this year.

I think he meant outside of CBS.

Well the article (or I thought he was quoting an article, not sure) says its the first time a multi-cam has been renewed since 2008 and the first time a non-CBS one has been renewed since 2007.

Last Man Standing, which currently isn't doing all that well but looks like it might get a renewal anyway. They had Work It, but it was cancelled.

NBC has 2 multi-cams on its line-up next season (Whitney and new show Guys with Kids). FOX has none.

I'm still waiting for a LMS renewal. Everything else has got renewed so far it seems.

LMS was doing pretty well in the ratings until about 2 months ago when it was paired with Cougar Town. I'll never understand why ABC put these 2 shows together as they have different audiences.

ABC for the most part seem to be renewing all their sitcoms. Last Man Standing has a 95 percent chance of getting renewed form what I heard. Last Man Standing did pretty good this year so I am sure it will get renewed. But it's renewals and a couple other shows would be coming soon(shortly) according to sitcomonline and TVBythenumbers.com on twitter. GCB was cancelled. ABC has so far picked up 9 New shows.

CBS has pretty much renewed every single show on it's schedule except for a few.

Thanks!! I've never watched that show, so I didn't know.

Not really. I called it in my prediction. It was getting 10 million and a 2.0 18-49 rating. And it does huge profit for ABC Studios. Shocked GCB is canceled, though.

Whitney is a complete surprise. Then again NBC renewed Up All Night even. Don't get it.

Repeats killed the momentum from March on. But still it was easily beating Whitney numbers.
